Social distancing in Thailand

Due to social distancing rules, people who use public transportation in Thailand had to sit a seat apart from others at all times.
Now that the situation is getting better, commuters will be allowed to sit closer to each other under with safety measures still in place from 1st July 2020 onwards.

On 18th July 2020, Saksayam Chidchob, Thailand’s Transport Minister, announced that “social distancing rules on public transport could be eased off by early July.”
Mr. Chidchob also presented a medical study conducted by Thai medical personnel showing that the possibility to catch COVID-19 while on public transportation is zero if commuters wear face masks and take less than 50 minutes for their trips.
Due to the finding, the government’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration is considering easing social distancing rules in city’s transport system.
This plan is expected to be activated from 1st July 2020 so that friends and families can sit closer to each other while travelling.
