Siam Discovery Has AR Muay Thai At A Boxing Arcade With Free Shorts

Siam Discovery’s AR boxing arcade opens till 31st August 2022

Muay Thai is known as Thailand’s national sport, and not without good reason. It’s the roar of the crowd as fighters they’re rooting for jab their punches, or dodge a well-timed kick from below. Those who’ve always dreamed of having a go in the ring – sans the bruises, of course – may actually be able to throw down your towel, in both a literal and figurative sense, this August.

Siam Discovery will be hosting an AR boxing arcade in the heart of its premises from 22nd July to 31st August, and there’re tons of freebies up for grabs for the brave-hearted guests who participate. So throw on your best pair of virtual boxing shorts and we’ll take you through a sneak preview of the experience below.

Upon entering Siam Discovery’s event area, the first thing you’ll notice is the futuristic ‘spaceship’ set up, which has not one, not two, but five punching bags strung up in the centre.

Participants will be led to the screen and be instructed by the staff on how to throw legit punches on the screen via the sensor. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to hit the actual specimen.

But that way, you can spare your knuckles from any potential impact while getting the thrill of landing each punch.

Before you begin playing, however, you’ll have to register your name and email via this QR code. It’s a rather quick process to sign up of course, completed within 1 minute before the game begins.

The campaign will run for 5 weeks, and a winner – who clocks the highest score – will be announced per week via Siam Discovery’s Facebook page. Prizes may be random, so you can expect cool souvenirs from Fairtex boxing shorts, to premium discounts or gift vouchers.

Perhaps you’ve never been too much of a sports fan, but you’d feel right at home for more artsy endeavours – including designing your very own boxing gloves. You can complete your design on-site and receive the gloves within a month.

Keep your eyes peeled for boxing gloves with graffiti art, and these swanky Muay Thai shorts with bold flame fonts.

As for the art aficionados among us, head over to the 4th floor to snap shots with this art installation.

If you’re only casually interested, but wanna find out more anyway, look out for this ‘avatar’ that you can scan with your mobile phone to customise.

P.S. Participants can create your own AR character in Muay Thai outfits, so be sure to play around with the outfit choices till you’re satisfied with your mini-me.
