Shibuya Pattaya is a hidden Japanese-themed eatery

Many people have fond memories about Japan, be it from watching Japanese TV series, anime, or visiting the country in person before the pandemic. While we’re fascinated by the rich culture and architecture styles, the cost of living in Japan is fairly high, so every trip we take there burns a big hole in our pockets.

So, if you’re worried about costly expenses, try paying a visit to Shibuya Pattaya, a Japanese-themed eatery that will transport you to Japan with its setting and decor. The restaurant also has a coffee bar and nightly live performances that will make you feel as though you’re hanging out in a bar in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Shibuya Pattaya is a Japanese-style restaurant that’s located next to Pattaya Beach. The facade is designed in traditional Japanese architecture style, complete with a cherry blossom tree standing in front of it. There’s even a red-painted crosswalk in front of the shop to make you feel like you’ve arrived in Japan without having to dig out your passport or hop on a flight.

When you arrive at the eatery, you’ll be greeted with a statue of Hachiko, that’s reminiscent of the one at Shibuya Station in Tokyo. Beside the statue is a wooden Nihon-themed bar where you can grab some Takoyaki balls that come with various fillings.

We recommend the Takoyaki Cheezy, which is selling at ฿100 (~USD3)/set of 4 balls, ฿130 (~USD3.9)/set of 6 balls and ฿160 (~USD4.8)/set of 10 balls. Prices vary depending on the filling and the number of the balls you order.

To the right of the statue lies a ramen shop, Ozawa Ramen, that’s opened by the same owner. If you crave for hot soupy food, this shop serves ramen noodles from ฿100 (~USD3)/bowl.

Inside the shop, there’s a wooden bar counter, wooden tables and benches, as well as white noren-like decor with Japanese words on them, all of which add to the authentic Japanese restaurant feel.

Coffee bars & live performances

Coffee aficionados will be glad to know that Shibuya Pattaya has a coffee bar too. The aroma of coffee that greets you once you step into the restaurant will make you want to order one of their 100% arabica coffee drink to pair with your takoyaki, pronto.

The second floor of the restaurant is home to a hidden bar that has nightly live music performances. The bar’s opening hours are 6PM-12AM.

Stroll along Pattaya Beach

After your meal, head to Pattaya Beach, which is a few steps away from the restaurant. This iconic location is a great spot to take a stroll by the waters. On weekends, the beach is usually crowded and buzzing with activities, such as jet-ski riding, picnicking, and parachuting.

If you just want to relax at the beach, sitting at the shore idly and watching boats sailing around in the sea is a great way to while the time away too.

There’s also a department store, Central Pattaya, nearby. It’s popular among Pattaya natives, and a great place to shop.

Inside the establishment, there are several types of shops, as well as food centres that offer many kinds of cuisines. There’s also a movie theatre where you can catch a film to end off your day before heading back to your hotel.
