The Prince of Brunei is single


Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton brought the Disney princess dream to life by going from commoners to royalty, and now could be your chance too.

Will and Harry might be off the market, but the Prince of Brunei, Prince Mateen, is single, eligible, and looking for a princess to find his own happily ever after. 

The prince, who just turned 29 this August, has quite an impressive resume under his belt – here’s what you need to know about him before swiping right.

Ladies, if you’re into men who are fit and love sports, time to keep track of Prince Mateen. Forget the usual football or tennis – the prince is a certified helicopter pilot under the Defence Helicopter Flying School at RAF Shawbury in England, according to Likely

When he’s not busy taking to the skies, he seems to be quite the equestrian and enjoys riding horses. He even represented the country for polo in the SEA Games in 2017 and 2019! Talk about a Disney prince on a horse, huh.

Prince Mateen’s credentials don’t end there. At 18, he entered the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst, UK, as one of the youngest entries. He graduated in 2014 as a Second Lieutenant, and still regularly shares about his time in the military on Instagram.

He also earned a Master’s Degree in Arts from SOAS University of London in 2016.

The royals are looking for a bride for the prince as he is now at an “appropriate age for marriage”. Those interested should know that the prince is looking for someone who shares similar interests as him.

Lives in a palace with over 1,700 rooms


Even the grandest of mansions are no match for Prince Mateen, who lives in a palace spanning a crazy 2.2 million square feet. That’s 1,788 rooms, 257 bathrooms, 5 swimming pools, and a 110 car garage.

The prince is the son of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, who is one of the richest men on the planet with an estimated net worth of $20 billion. What does he do with all that money? His 500 Rolls-Royces and gold-plated jets might clue you in.

If him being rich and famous has you worried about his ego, here’s some good news. In an interview with GQ Thailand, Prince Mateen said to be a “grounded man” who didn’t like to show off his family’s wealth. 

Instead, he was “more interested in the simple life, his passions, time with family and friends, and his other noble pursuits.”

Relatable? Good – ‘cuz he also gave some insight into the kind of girl he’s looking for. 

“I would say someone who is genuine and real. Someone who is very simple, that’s what I like,” he shared with GQ.
