Pikotaro handwashing song
Aside from social distancing, washing hands is one of the best recommendations for people to keep safe during this COVID-19 situation. To help make this mundane activity a little more fun, Spotify users and Thai artists have created different playlists and songs to promote handwashing.
Iconic singer Pikotaro, who created the viral song “Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen”, is back with a new song “PPAP-2020” that aims to raise awareness on handwashing.
I have a hand, I have a soap!
Pikotaro, whose real name is Kazuhito Kosaka, is famous for his earworm “PPAP – Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen” which was released in 2016. With the COVID-19 pandemic going about, he announced on his Twitter about the new version of the song named PPAP-2020, inviting people to wash their hands along with him.
The lyrics are based on the very first song:
I have a hand.
I have a soap.
Uh!
Wash! Wash! Wash! Wash! Wash!
In the end, he also added a note of encouragement, saying “Pray for people and peace. We will win.”
The music video also includes a handwashing dance to illustrate 7 methods for proper techniques for people to follow.
