McDonald’s Thailand gives out free fries

Thailand is doing its best to achieve the goal of “herd immunity”, via plans to implement Covid-19 vaccination walk-in services in several provinces starting next month.

Thai companies have joined the bandwagon, by transforming department stores like ICONSIAM and Asiatique into vaccination spaces.

McDonald’s Thailand has pledged their support by adding another incentive for residents to get their vaccines: offering free french fries to vaccinated customers.

Here’s the details on how to claim this deal.

Get one small fries with proof of a Covid-19 vaccine

Anyone who is able to provide proof of their Covid-19 vaccination will be able to get one small french fries at any McDonald’s shop and drive-thru outlet – airport branches excluded – in Thailand.

Both physical and digital copies of the vaccination certificate are accepted with each branch limited to 100 free orders per day, or until the joint’s supplies run out.

The offer will begin from 17th May 2021, said Mr. Thunyachate Ekvetchavit, Managing Director of McThai.

The campaign boasts a hashtag #ฉีดวัคซีนหยุดเชื้อเพื่อชาติ – which translates to “Take your shot, stop the spread, save our country” – to encourage patrons to join the movement and get vaccinated ASAP.

Vaccinated McDonald’s employees get extra leave

Employees who join the company’s vaccination programme will also get one extra day of leave with insurance to cover adverse reactions, according to the announcement.

Mr. Ekvetchavit hopes that the campaign will ensure everyone’s safety and help push Thailand forward to a “new-normal” era.

Will you get vaccinated for a packet of fries?

While McDonald’s definitely has delicious fries, we wonder if it’s a big enough incentive to make up our minds about a life-changing decision like vaccination.

That said, it’s important to first consider the health of our loved ones, in deciding if a vaccine is for us.

We think the deal should be viewed as a smol treat for those who’ve already made their choice, rather than the main reason to get a vaccine.
