Woman finds maggots in stew

There are many perks to eating out. For example, you don’t have to cook whatever meal you’re craving and you certainly aren’t expected to clean it up after you’re done.

However, there are also risks. While restaurants certainly offer the convenience of not having to prepare your own food, you can never be sure of the ingredients.

Here’s the story about a woman in Thailand who found an unpleasant surprise in her duck stew.

OP then states that the restaurant’s owner then angrily came up to their table. The owner allegedly aggressively claimed that it’s impossible for maggots to get to the meat, as they keep their duck hidden away in an air-tight freezer.

The poster further states that she did not receive an apology from the restaurant, but got a ฿40 (~USD1.21) discount.

It seems that other Facebook aren’t too pleased with the resolution – or lack thereof – of the situation.

At the time of writing, the post has been shared 7.9K times and liked over 9.1K times.

Translation: Have the owner try to eat it.

One netizen offered a suggestion for gaining the owner’s empathy: having them try the dish, themselves.

Another user seems to be responding to the owner’s claim that because the duck is kept in a freezer, there’d be no way for it to come into contact with maggots.

The customer may not always be right, but it’s still important to check

Running a restaurant is tough. Overseeing what goes on in the kitchen, managing the staff and more importantly, the guests, is bound to get overwhelming.

Furthermore, we can imagine that this owner has had to deal with some less-than-pleasant personalities. That being said, it’s probably not the best idea to offer a small discount when a customer raises a valid health concern.

We hope that both parties are able to heal from the situation, and that the restaurant doesn’t face something similar again.
