Apart from beautiful nature spots, Thailand is known for its iconic architecture and rich cultural heritage. Needless to say, when it comes to historical establishments, many visitors fly across continents to admire them, as well as snap pictures to show their families back home.

So, if you’re new to Thailand and are looking for a place that will take you back to old-timey Siam with retro vibes, we’d say you should check this place out. Legend Siam Pattaya is a theme park that lets you tour around to see retro Thai houses, a golden pagoda, murals, a vintage market, as well as enjoy a boat ride.

Explore old-timey Siam’s retro Thai houses via tram

Upon arriving at the entrance of the theme park, you’ll be greeted with two imposing traditional Thai guards flanking both sides of enormous gated archway. Besides taking selfies with the giant guards, we bet the mini temple atop the building will hold your attention for a while too. We’d say this is the first spot to take a check-in photo.

After you get inside, the next thing you shouldn’t miss is this statue of Indra sitting on the 3-headed Erawan Elephant. This is where you can opt to get on a tram to tour around the theme park. If you’re afraid you’ll feel a little lost, don’t fret. There’ll be a friendly guide on the tram giving you info on each zone.

However, before riding on the tram, do head over to the Thai-style tricycles parked on the square for a quick bonus photo op with your friends.

Besides touring the hamlet via tram, the major features here in our opinion are these traditional Thai houses that are a rare sight nowadays in big cities like Bangkok. Within the retro town, you’ll spot many of them elevated on stilts submerged in the water. All you’ll have to do is roam around till you find one suitable for a picture to fool your IG fam into thinking you’ve somehow time travelled to old-school Siam.

While admiring the traditional Thai houses in the village, be sure to keep your eyes peeled because in some alleys there are hidden murals on the walls which feature mystical scenes from Thai folklore.

To add a little variety to the visit to this retro village, take a golf cart ride to the heart of the theme park. You’ll find a mini-golden pagoda with four distinct niches, each hosting a Buddha image facing each direction. There’s also a zone with vintage exhibitions which pay homage to Thai culture and traditions.

Just a stone’s throw away from the pagoda lies another fun-sized amusement park with a carousel and a ferris-wheel that can be seen from the bridge crossing the canal. The sight of the ferris wheel is hard to miss, but if you keep scanning the area, you’ll spot traditional Thai rowboats lining the sides of the canal. We know you might be curious if you’re allowed to ride on those boats, but we’ll circle back to that a little later.

Stroll through a retro 100-year vintage market

For shopaholics, no outing is complete without a trip to a vintage market, and boy are we excited to present this next one to you. The 100-Year Market – also known as “ตลาดร้อยปี‘” in Thai – is a vintage shopping street decked in traditional design motifs. Within, you’ll find hidden gems like retro outfits or teensy weensy handcrafted gifts.

Once you walk inside, you can see that the indoor space is quite large. If you start to examine the market, you can find some food stalls along with dining spots to chill out. After you’re done with the first floor, you might want to climb up the stairs to the second floor and discover more.

Of course, we’d recommend setting aside ample time to browse the premises as you’ll find small artisan stalls set up within the snaking alleys of the halls as well.

Remember when we mentioned the boats earlier? We’ll keep our promise to talk about it in this section. We know some of you are curious as to whether you can ride on the boat, and the answer is yes. These boats are here for guests to board and tour the premises in the theme park with fares from ฿100 (~USD2.64).
