More Leatherback hatchlings
Pollution and mass fishing have negatively affected the population of many marine animals. This doesn’t leave out the largest sea turtle species in the world, the Leatherback turtle out of the picture.
This year, however, these turtles were able to build the highest number of nests in 20 years.
The Phuket News states that there are a total of 47 turtle hatchlings at Bang Khwan Beach, Phang Nga that made their way to the water on 28th December 2020.

The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources officials performed a health check on all of them. Results showed that the turtles were strong and healthy, so officials helped guide all of them to the sea.
Nature blooms in 2020
Although 2020 has done a number on all of us, it’s nice to take stock of the good things that have happened this year. With the number of flourishing species – both flora and fauna – the next generation may have a chance at seeing these rare specimens for real.
