Krung Thep Thara 2019 in Bangkok

Thailand is a country that is rich in tradition and heritage, and Krung Thep Thara is a festival that brings the beauty of Thai cultures across the country to one place. This year, Krung Thep Thara returns to CentralWorld Bangkok for the 2nd time.

Happening from 25 October to 3 November 2019, there are lots of fun things to look forward to like street food carts and cultural performances.

This contemporary event is where you can come to learn more about all of Thailand’s regions, ranging from their food to culture.

1. Street food carts

There will be over 200 famous food stores to drop by to try some grub and drinks – you’ll even get to eat food from different parts of the country!

There will be loads of options to try, from internet-famous street foods to items only locals know. This means everything from northern and southern to northeastern cuisines.

It’s common to see trolleys with steel shelves of grilled squid at markets and food festivals. This is a classic street food to try, so keep a lookout for it! There are many sizes for you to opt for, starting from the smallest one at ฿20 to the biggest one at ฿100

The squid is always served together with a special sauce depending on the owner’s own cooking style, and it gives a nice contrast to the salty squid.

Amid the hot BKK weather, head straight for Ni Ang’s egg yolk ice cream at ฿49. The yolk gives a nice “chewy” texture to the ice cream and enhances its overall creaminess.

There’s a lot more you can try here, like Feng Zhu Gyoza’s super popular dumplings and Mee Grob Jeen Lee, a crispy noodle store that’s over 100-years-old.

2. Cultural performances

Muay Thai might be a well-known martial art, but Thai locals don’t just see it as that. It actually is a really beautiful art form and makes for a good performance, so look forward to seeing a different side of this sport at Krung Thep Thara.

Dancing is also something that Thai locals are really proud of. Each region in the country has its own unique style – for example, northern dances are usually quite slow, while northeastern performances are more upbeat and rhythmic.

You’ll be able to catch them all here, so try spotting the differences while watching.

3. Cool Instagram photo-spots
