Koff And Things in Chiang Mai

Every visitor to Chiang Mai should make it a point to go cafe-hopping in this beautiful city. Tucked away in Chiang Mai’s old town, lies the up-and-coming cafe Koff And Things.

Shoutout to all furparents BTW – as this cafe doesn’t just resemble the traditional Japanese bath house from ‘Spirited Away’ – it’s also pet-friendly.

If you’re planning a trip down to the quaint town soon, we’ll give you a quick rundown on what to expect if you pay this Japanese-style cafe a visit.

Koff And Things looks like a daytime version of the bathhouse in ‘Spirited Away’

Upon nearing the vicinity of the eatery, you’ll immediately notice the striking wood details, accentuated by bright hues of red. We think it’s certainly reminiscent of the iconic bathhouse in Spirited Away, caught in the daytime.

With the windows of the cafe inspired by traditional Japanese styles and shoji doors, this looks like the very scene where Haku flies back to the bathhouse after getting attacked by the army of paper men. Fans of Hayao Miyazaki & Spirited Away, I’m sure you know exactly which scene I’m talking about.

The cafe takes pride in its relatively open-concept that allows for tons of light to seep in, especially in the afternoons.

The cafe’s checkered windows framed by translucent curtains create soft, mood lighting which cast shadows and give dimension to every photo. Foodie photographers, make sure to bookmark this cafe for your next flatlay sessions as we have a hunch that those will turn out well.

Finally, we love that the deep navy-toned furniture contrasts nicely with the woody interior of the cafe – making for a Tumblr-worthy series of pictures.

Of course, since it’s hard to find authentic Japanese-style cafes in any city, we’ll consider it a double win that this cafe is also pet-friendly. Just look at these adorable puppers looking at us. Aww.

So definitely consider popping by this cafe for an afternoon pick-me-up, perhaps after bringing your furry friend for his/her afternoon walkie.

Now let’s talk briefly about what to expect on the menu here. For only ฿90 (~USD2.64), you’ll get to dig into a cylinder of fluffy Strawberry Shortcake – a must-have in any Japanese-style eatery.

Given its pet-friendly nature, we weren’t surprised to find these beary-cute cream pan – AKA bread – as well. You can indulge in one of these bear-shaped Cream Bread for only ฿95 (~USD2.79) and even pair it with their Signature Matcha Espresso Latte for ฿95 (~USD2.79).

With prices like that, we think it’s definitely a good bargain for an unforgettable afternoon out in Chiang Mai – or a mini escape to Japan – whichever way you look at it.
