Staying safe in a creative way

Last month, we saw how Burger King in Europe brought in giant crowns to follow social distancing rules, which was a hilariously effective way to keep people a safe distance apart.

One local school in Chiang Mai has also adopted a creative way for their students to stay safe with face shields similar to ancient Chinese headgear.

To follow social distancing rules, Thai schools now need to set up classrooms in accordance to ‘new normal’ ways, and also require teachers and students to wear face masks and shields for extra precaution.

Going up another step is Baan Pa Maud School in Chiang Mai that designed face shields inspired by headgear worn by people in ancient China, notably like that of character Justice Bao, to make sure everyone remains at least 1-metre apart.

The school director Chaiyo Yasamout said that these face shields also have an extra perk for students besides protecting them from the virus.

The cute, coloured cardboard helps students feel less stressed. Plus, every visor comes with a flashcard with new English vocabulary and Thai definitions, so students will have a chance to learn something new when seeing each other.

All face shields were made by the school’s teachers during their long semester break and were given to students when the school reopened.

Other preventive measures have also been put in place. Teachers and students are required to have their temperature checked before entering school, and need to sanitise their hands.

It’s great that students are now back to school, and we hope they will be allowed to play with their classmates and have fun in school as per normal again soon.
