Free haircuts for frontline workers
Before the lockdown against COVID-19 began to ease on 3rd May, hair salons and barbershops, among other businesses, were closed for more than a month.
Miss Pornsupa Hattayong, a hairstylist, saw this as an opportunity to show gratitude to healthcare workers such as doctors, nurses, and support staff in Bangkok hospitals by giving them free haircuts.

Thinking her service was not important, Miss Pornsupa felt embarrassed at first. However, she was surprised by positive feedback from workers who were eager to have their hair cut for the first time in a month, shared Khaosod English.

As the campaign went on, more health workers turned up to get Miss Pornsupa’s service so she decided to ask her hairstylist friends to help.
Together, the team managed to give around 50 people haircuts per visit.
Although there was no financial gain in this, Miss Pornsupa said she was proud that she could make the health workers happy.
“I have cut hair for 20 years, and I feel so proud. They are the most important people in the world right now,” she said.
Miss Pornsupa said she may continue to groom doctors and nurses on her days off after the closure is lifted.
