Dog swallows 32 rubber ducks

Ever been to a pet shop and seen cute toys you’ve wanted to buy for your canine friends at home? Well, you might have second thoughts after this story.

A veterinarian in Pattaya called Mo Mui (Dr. Mui) shared a cautionary tale on her Facebook page, warning all dog lovers about pet toys after she removed 32 small rubber ducks from a dog’s stomach.

Dog was vomiting the toys out at first

The dog’s name is Davel, and Mo Mui has been his personal vet since he was a puppy. Mo Mui revealed this wasn’t her first time retrieving random objects out of a dog’s stomach, but this one has the highest number of objects so far.

She recalled the time when Davel’s concerned owner called her after he threw up 5 rubber ducks. The owner asked Mo Mui to conduct an X-ray to see if there were any more toys left inside his stomach.

After the X-ray, Mo Mui said there were too many to count and they needed to be taken out before moving to the colon, which would pose a huge threat to Davel’s health.

Besides the rubber ducks, Mo Mui found 2 green rubber objects, which she speculated to be parts of a ball toy, and leathery sheets that looked like they came from chew sheets.

Select your pet’s toys carefully

It is obvious that the duck sizes are too small for such a huge mouth – no offence, Davel! It’s important for pet owners out there to be selective about the toys that are bought. Make sure they’re not too small and easy for your pets to swallow. We believe no owner want to see their dogs suffer the same fate as poor Davel.

If your furry ones have vomited out any strange objects, don’t hesitate to go to the vet ASAP for a check-up to be sure nothing else has been consumed.

In her post, Mo Mui added the hashtag #PleaseHelpShare to make it viral as she doesn’t want to see any other pups to go through surgery like Davel had – and so do we!
