Thailand has reported only 1 new case of COVID-19 today, 14th May 2020. The patient, a 39-year-old from Chiang Mai who had recently returned from Phuket, was asymptomatic until being tested positive.
Spokesman for the Centre of COVID-19 Situation Administration Dr Taweesilp Visanuyothin stated that the patient was working in Phuket and had returned home on 2nd May. Health volunteers in Chiang Mai then brought him to get tested for the virus.
High-risk groups urged to get tested
“The patient came from an at-risk area, had no symptoms and is of working age,” said Dr Taweesilp, who then thanks the health volunteers for their efficiency.
He then urged others who had left Phuket to get tested for COVID-19 regardless of whether they were showing symptoms or not.
6 patients have recovered
In the last 24 hours, 6 more patients have recovered from the virus, Bangkok Post reports. This brings the total number of recovered cases to 2,850, with 112 patients still being treated. The accumulated number of cases in Thailand stands at 3,018.
No additional deaths have been reported either, keeping the death toll at 56.
