8-year-old street performer
To help this family fight the economic recession, an 8-year-old boy has been performing a traditional Southern dance called nora at Sri Fah market in Koh Samui, Surat Thani.

The boy’s name is Theepakorn and he has been helping his mother with her food stall at the market every afternoon as his school is still closed due to the pandemic.
When finished, he puts on a nora costume and performs near his mother’s stall to earn some money to help his family pay for his tuition fees for when the new semester starts.
His mother lost her job
Theepakorn’s mother, Supapon, told Matichon that she was in the tourism business, which went south after the virus hit Thailand and drove all tourists away.
To make ends meet and support her family, she decided to sell food in the market.

Miss Supapon revealed that Theepakorn has been practising nora since he was 2 years old. She said that he was taught by his grandmother, her mother, who used to own a nora dancing group in the past.
She’s also very happy and proud of her boy for being able to do what he’s passionate about.
