In the face of life and death, this boatman rushed to this woman’s rescue after he noticed her drowning.

On the afternoon of 27th August 2019, an unidentified woman reportedly jumped off the Bang Pakong bridge in Chachoengsao Province in an attempted suicide. She appeared to stay afloat in the water because of her backpack.

Luckily, 57-year-old Wanchai Yusawad was on his boat looking for fish when he heard people on the bridge causing a commotion about the woman who jumped. He quickly steered the boat in her direction to rescue her from drowning.

This was recorded one of the passersby.

Woman felt like she had no way out

After she was rescued, the woman had some time to calm down from the shock of almost drowning. Shortly after, the police arrived at the scene and spoke to her about what had happened.

The woman revealed that she was on her way back home from visiting her ex-husband who refused to give her ฿70,000 as compensation after he took her pickup truck and motorcycle from their divorce. Instead, he allegedly scolded her. On top of everything, their child had recently passed away.

If you’re feeling unusually down, don’t be afraid to reach out

We can thank Mr. Wanchai for being able to save the woman from an unfortunate incident. However, not everyone is always that lucky.

In society nowadays, mental health has become an important issue. If you’re going through a difficult time in life right, do not be afraid to reach out for help. Though it can be hard to visit the doctor sometimes, there are plenty of hotlines available – even just for a chat.

Take care, everybody!
