Travel safely with MRT
The MRT is a popular transportation system that lots of people use to get around Bangkok. Now that the number of commuters are increasing once again as the COVID-19 situation is getting better, the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) has set up more strict preventive measures to limit passengers on trains, following social distancing policies.
Necessary to avoid spread of the virus
On 9th May 2020, MRTA, and Bangkok Expressway and Metro (BEM) declared that the number of MRT passengers have been getting higher after the government eased the lockdown in the city.
To avoid overcrowding conditions that could lead to a possible spike in cases or clusters, MRT has set up 3 precautionary measures to limit the number of commuters on trains.
1. Limit passengers at entry-exit gates of each station

3. Limit passengers on platforms while waiting for trains
Passengers are suggested to plan travels ahead of time to account for longer travelling times due to these safety precautions. Everyone is also still required to have a mask on while travelling – safe travels!
