Matcha green tea is loved by people from all over the globe, and Thai folks are no exception. Because of this, Bangkok has lots of cafes with matcha as a key ingredient in their dishes, from desserts to beverages.
Here are 8 awesome matcha cafes in the city for every green tea junkie out there.
1. Tealily Cafe

Situated in the middle of Ekkamai is Tealily Cafe, a minimalistic matcha teahouse with a gorgeous wooden exterior. We wouldn’t have guessed that this cafe was in Bangkok by looking at the photos for sure.

Once you enter the bright and spacious cafe, it’s time to order. Don’t miss out on their Homemade Uji Matcha Ice-Cream (฿245, ~USD8.09), which is served with soft whipped cream, red bean paste, and freshly prepared dango (Japanese rice dumpling).
The cafe offers 3 levels of matcha ice cream, depending on how intense you would like it to be: mild, regular, and rich. Don’t hesitate to ask for some samples first.

If you’re more into baked goods, get the Matcha Brownie (฿135, ~USD4.46). This rich dessert comes with chocolate chips on the inside and is drizzled with thick matcha sauce and whipped cream on the side.

2. Tsujiri

Operating in Kyoto since the 1850s, Tsujiri has since found a home all over the world – with one being right here in EmQuartier.
The cafe is situated in the open-space mall, giving it a nice airy ambience. While here, let the TSUJIRI Matcha (฿215, ~USD7.10) cool you down. This is matcha flavoured shaved ice in a cup, topped with sweet green tea soft serve, red bean paste, bouncy dango, and crunchy Japanese chestnuts.

Another interesting item is the Matcha Soft Cream Choux (฿110, ~USD3.63), which is a French choux dough stuffed with a generous amount of matcha soft serve.

3. Peace Oriental Teahouse
Find your inner zen at Peace Oriental Teahouse, a matcha cafe that offers a tranquil space with staff members who know all things tea.

If you want to indulge in a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, then go with the Ceremonial Grade Matcha Set (฿690, ~USD22.79). The cafe will use premium quality tea leaves to double brew the tea for two distinct flavour profiles.
The first brew will get you a cup of rich and intense green tea while the second one will leave you with a milder, softer tea.
Koicha Cream, Matcha Extremist

For some sweets, you can’t skip the Koicha Cream (฿285, ~USD9.41); a scoop of homemade milk ice-cream in koicha green tea – which has a strong and bitter flavour – served with a sticky black rice ball. The textures and flavours go together really well, with the ice cream balancing out the bitter tea, and the rice ball adding an interesting texture to the dish.
Matcha Extremist (฿285, ~USD9.41) is another item to try, especially those who love rich matcha flavours. Far from the ordinary, this ice cream is coated in a crispy charcoal crust which adds a crunchy texture and an awesome look to the dish.

4. Chaho Cafe

With homey decorations, you’ll feel as if you’re hanging out at a friend’s house at Chaho Cafe although it is located right in the middle of Bangkok’s CBD.
Matcha Fondue (฿259, ~USD8.56) is a must-order item while you’re taking refuge from the bustling Bangkok streets. This set comes with a warm cup of matcha fondue, bite-sized homemade brownies, grilled marshmallows, strawberries, kiwi, and banana.

Seven Suns is a matcha stall in The Commons, a trendy community mall in Thong Lor. The stall specialises in matcha drinks, both iced and cold.
With highly skilled specialists and the stall’s special selections, you can count on their cup of rich and flavourful Japanese tea to make your day.

Besides premium iced and hot drinks, you’ll find yummy frappes like Matcha Malt (฿175, ~USD5.78), a green tea slushie with whipped cream. If you’re an Oreo fan, get a cup of Oreo Cookie Matcha (฿175, ~USD5.78) with Oreo cookies mixed inside the frappe, plus some crumbles on top.

Situated near shopping hotspots like MBK and Siam, Wabi Cha is the perfect stop after a long day of shopping for tea lovers.
The cafe has a traditional Japanese-style interior, making you feel like you’re a cosy tea house in Kyoto rather than Bangkok. Real Insta-worthy too!

All food items here are neatly arranged and decorated with flowers and fruits, which will change depending on the season. The only problem is they might look too cute to eat – what a feast for the eyes and stomach.
While here, we recommend the Super Matcha Course (฿655, ~USD21.62), a set that includes a selection of matcha items in house: hot matcha tea, creamy ice cream, cheesecake, airy sponge cake with a layer of matcha cream, and chewy mochi.
