No space in Bangkok malls

On Sunday, malls were allowed to open for the first time in months after Thailand eased its lockdown restrictions as the COVID-19 situation has improved.

But concern was raised when pictures of big crowds in many malls around Bangkok emerged on the internet. These pictures featured malls packed with people, leaving little to no room for social distancing.

It appears that all the long lines were mostly formed at the entrance as people had to wait to register and get their temperature scanned, in line with government guidelines, before entering the premises.
IKEA shut down

IKEA Bangna had to stop letting people inside their store as the long lines of customers waiting to get it got too much.
In their statement, IKEA explained that there were many people inside already and they had to help maintain the social distance.

Despite some chaos, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration spokesman Taweesilp Visanuyothin revealed on Monday that the centre was satisfied by an overall picture.
“Thank you to the shops and the people for their cooperation, although it was only Day 1,” he said.
