Ban Hun Lek in Ang Thong


Ban Hun Lek art museum is a hidden gem in Ang Thong, a small town in central Thailand that’s about 2 hours from Bangkok. 

At the museum, visitors will find awesome-looking sculptures, all made of scrap metal, in various styles and sizes.

Although it’s in a small town, the museum itself is considered enormous as it has a yard to showcase some giant crafts as well as an indoor warehouse for smaller ones.

Most of the sculptures here are inspired by famous characters from movies such as Bumblebee and Optimus Prime from Transformers, Iron man, Batman, and Predator.

Made from ‘scrap’

This art museum was first created in 2012 by Pairoj Thanomwong and started off as a small gift shop that sold souvenirs made from scrap metal. It then gradually became more popular over the years. 

Now, the museum has 20 talented artists and craftsmen who create new sculptures while looking after the existing ones. 

Mr Thanomwong told Swapgap, “Everything has value in itself whether we see it or not.”


Chill at a retro-style cafe

After exploring a sea of magnificent sculptures, you can get unwind at an open-air cafe with vintage vibes while sipping on some delicious Thai tea.   

The entrance fees are only ฿60 ( ~USD2) for adults and ฿30 ( ~USD1) for children.

Visit the small town of Ang Thong for a day and see these majestic sculptures at Ban Hun Lek for yourself.
