Shredded pork snacks by ABC Bites
Bangkok is a popular travel destination, especially during this long Chinese New Year weekend for our friends in Singapore and Malaysia.
Aside from getting your cameras ready for photogenic spots around town adorned with festive CNY decor, buying back Thai snacks and goodies is a must for friends and family at home. One such snack is Crispy Shredded Pork, which is a hit among tourists and locals alike.
ABC Bites has just opened its very first kiosk at Big C Rajadamri that sells these delicious shredded pork snacks for a perfect souvenir from BKK.
Baked crispy shredded pork from ABC Bites
The kiosk offers crispy shredded pork in 2 flavours:
- Original: 41g (฿69, ~S$3.05) | 180g (฿290, ~S$12.82)
- Sweet Chilli: 41g (฿69, ~S$3.05) | 180g (฿290, ~S$12.82)
We tried the Original first, and its flavour reminded me of when I used to munch on pork floss as a child. It has a mix of sweet and subtly salty flavours, which Thais are familiar with.
This snack is also baked, which results in crispy floss strands that are not oily. We were impressed at how big each piece was, and that it wasn’t overly mealy or powdery, which can happen with pork floss.
If you’ve ever tried Thai chilli paste and are in love with it, we’d recommend going for the Sweet Chilli flavour. It’s not going to burn your tongue, but it is slightly spicy while retaining the signature sweet flavour of shredded pork.
This was also crunchier than the original, which we liked.
Mini Crispy Pork Powder (฿30, ~S$1.33 ) if you’d like to give it a try – you can even eat this atop rice or porridge!
What surprised me was that ABC Bites makes sure not to add any MSG or added preservatives, which makes munching on the snack a little more guilt-free. The floss is also made from lean pork meat.
The snack comes in 2 portable pack sizes; 41g and 180g. And with the Chinese New Year season, they are also offering a Holiday Set containing 4 x 41g packs for ฿350 (~S$15.48).
It comes with a Happy New Year card on the inside, making it a great gift for a loved one back home.

ABC Bites’ kiosk is located on the 4th floor of Big C Rajadamri, which is right across the popular shopping mall, CentralWorld. It’s also easily accessible by train via Chit Lom BTS.
Head up to the 4th floor and look for the Food Park and you’ll see the snack kiosk.
And here’s some good news for our Singaporean readers – don’t worry if you’re not heading to Bangkok anytime soon. From 18th-23rd February 2020, ABC Bites will bring their crispy shredded pork to Singapore’s Chatuchak Night Market! Plus, you can always purchase their snacks online too.
