Rebirth of New World Mall
The thought of exploring an abandoned place might sound scary to some, but it’s something urban explorers look forward to. Well whether you’re one or not, having this experience just became a lot easier as the abandoned New World Mall has been temporarily transformed into an art exhibit for visitors to enjoy.
New World Mall comes back to life

Dating back to the 80s, New World Mall was once a modern and energetic shopping centre well-known among locals in Bang Lam Pu, but it unfortunately collapsed due to structural issues and needed to be permanently closed ever since 2004.

The mall left only good memories for shoppers and vendors since then, but has now been resurrected almost 2 decades later by transforming into an art exhibition about Bang Lam Pu neighbourhood.

The exhibition is hosted by teachers and students from the Faculty of Architecture of Silpakorn University. Here, visitors can expect a showcase of artworks and items portraying the narratives of local cultures.

The highlight of this art event is the Light Installation zone where the room is bathed in neon lights and photos of fish which once lived in the pond on the first floor.
However, as COVID-19 is still around, this event limits the number to 10 visitors each day, so anyone interested needs to make an appointment in advance via Facebook.

For those who are concerned about safety, the organising team has actually let an engineer check the location, and it’s been given the go-ahead that the place is safe.
This exhibition will be with us only till the end of this week, so make sure to book a reservation real soon to visit the place if you’re interested.
