Abandoned cats found at Ratchada Market

Life has become different, to say the least, for people in Bangkok. Due to the current situation, venues like night markets have temporarily closed down.

Recently, Train Night Market Ratchada was the talk of the town. After news broke about its closure, netizens quickly expressed their concerns for the livelihoods of vendors. Luckily, the market’s closure is only temporary.

In the midst of people hauling their supplies elsewhere, it seems that there were a number of kittens left at the market.

Let’s see how they’re fending for themselves, and how we can help.

Abandoned cats at Ratchada Market are looking for homes

On 4th August 2021, images of 20 abandoned cats at Train Night Market Ratchada were shared on Facebook by Cake Naka. They were found to be wearing collars, but didn’t seem to have owners. With the market being closed and no vendors operating, it seems there’s not a single soul to feed the kitties, according to MGR Online.

Cake Naka has been urging netizens to adopt the kittens or to get in touch with any organisation that can help rescue them.

Translation: Please come and pick up these kitties, they have been abandoned. When the market used to be so popular, the vendors used to feed them all the time. I came to my office closed to the market today and I feel sad to see this…

The cats have collars but don’t seem to have any owners. The kitties come in different ages – from kittens, old, and mid-aged. Please share this post for more visibility to other netizens and pet organisations.

Adopt one if you can

While Ratchada Market vendors have had to haul their hopes and dreams home, they will – hopefully – be able to continue making a living when the situation improves.

One way we can help improve the circumstances is by either adopting one of these furry friends, or recommending them to your friends.
