Yes, the chocolate cake is very good. But I would never be addicted to Awfully Chocolate's signature item. I don't understand what makes their version of a chocolate cake superior to the thousands of other chocolate cakes out there. I find that there is too much sponge layers compared to the chocolate sauce layers. It doesn't lead me to slowly chew on each bite, which I do on cakes I truly enjoy. I can chow down Awfully's choc cake if only I didn't know how expensive it is!!
If you can tell the difference between Awfully Chocolate's choc cake and believe in its supremacy, by all means, go for it! But I think I'm better off going for their other items, which are more unique. The salted butterscotch brownie is sinful, and something I'd actually savour leisurely.
Awfully Chocolate was where I ordered a cake for a friend's party. I was impressed with their service because I only had a few days before the party to arrange for the cake to be personalized and the staff assured me that they would be able to do it. They even asked me about my choice of colours regarding the decoration of the cake which left a good impression on me because I haven't yet met a cake shop that attentive to the needs of the customer.
The cake was ready on time for self-collection, and needless to say, everyone - myself included - enjoyed the cake. It was a little too chocolatey for my liking, but perfect for the birthday boy who's a chocolate lover. The decoration on the cake was simple but neatly done, so I'm not complaining since I gave them such short notice.
It wasn't expensive as well - if I remember correctly, the cake cost us about $25 and was just enough for about 6-7 of us.
This was my first experience with Awfully Chocolate, and ever since then I've made it a point to buy my birthday cakes from there (unless, of course, the birthday boy/girl isn't a fan of chocolates). Will definitely recommend this to family and friends.

There’s nothing more indulgent than a pint of Awfully Chocolate’s hei ice cream to me. Rich and bittersweet, the decadent treat perks up even the worst of days. Whilst most of their confectionery are equally sinful, I can’t say the same about the Awfully Chocolate Original.
I praise it for being moist, but the cake failed to impress. I was expecting to bite into the real life version of the chocolate cake from Matilda, but it looks like that will have to stay in fiction. That said, the cake is supposed to be a simple cake you could have everyday, but the chocoholic in me craves a higher intensity of chocolatey goodness.
If you’re like me, go for their Super Stacked Chocolate Cake or Salted Butterscotch Brownie instead. Those will leave you feeling awfully guilty, but you’ll be glad you did.
Awfully Chocolate, as its name suggests, serves mostly chocolate desserts. Awfully Chocolate boasts using their own blend of chocolate, something you won’t get outside. They are famous for their basic chocolate cake which most people usually order for birthday celebrations.
I personally dislike their chocolate cake because it’s not dense and chocolatey enough for me. I find it pretty mediocre in taste, but I would definitely go for their Super Stacked Chocolate cake if I had a choice. My favorite dessert from Awfully Chocolate is the Salted Butterscotch Brownie and the White Chocolate Creme Brulee. I love the brownie for its insane chewy texture and the creme brulee for its creaminess. Also, you get the pretty porcelain dish that comes along with it when you buy the creme brulee back.
Awfully Chocolate is one of the few places I visit to fix my chocolate cravings and I would continue patronizing them.
Many go to Awfully chocolate for their cakes, tarts or chocolate. But I go there for their dark chocolate ice cream. Not many have tried it, and I’m telling you, you’re missing out.
The chocolate is so rich and not overly-sweet, just the way I like it. It’s really creamy and smooth, and every spoonful is amazing. It’s unimaginable how plain chocolate ice cream can taste so good. They also come in take-away little boxes with handles and the are really cute - totally Instagrammable. The portion is quite decent as well, making it quite worth your money.
Awfully Chocolate really produce excellent chocolate that is a notch above the rest. Their chocolate is so fresh and so real, it’s the best. They also have a number of cakes that are perfect for any occasion, or when there is none. Remember to try their ice cream the next time you drop by!
Almost everyone I know is mad over Awfully Chocolate’s Chocolate Cake. The thick, creamy, outer layer of chocolate always tempts me to splurge $34 on the whole cakes I see when I pass by.
I decided to have it for my birthday one day, and boy, was I ecstatic. I took the trouble to even snap an aesthetic photo of a slice for the Instagram. But when I finally dug in, I subconsciously voiced my first thought: “What.” If a single word could encapsulate how I felt about the chocolate cake, it would be exactly that - what - as in, what’s the big deal? The cake was slightly bitter, spongy and soft yes, but it wasn’t especially heavenly to warrant this big a craze. I felt as if they skimped on the chocolate cream within the cake - I could barely taste its texture.
Tasteless, is how I could describe it, and in no way is it awfully chocolate-y. Give me a chocolate cake from Four Leaves any day instead.
Awfully Chocolate cakes are a staple at birthdays in my family, especially my birthday, because I love chocolate. My dad always buys the “All Chocolate”, which is the original dark chocolate cake with dark chocolate fudge, and it’s like heaven in a slice. This cake is everything I adore- pure chocolate goodness with no additional flavours. It’s creamy, sweet, and leaves you with a fudge-y mouth. However, as with all things, this cake is taken best in moderation- too much leaves me feeling a bit 'jelat'.
All in all, Awfully Chocolate cakes are a great addition to any occasion. Not diabetes-inducing sweet, but decadent enough to make you feel like you need that extra hour in the gym tomorrow. Definitely my family favourite!
My absolute favourite cake from Awfully Chocolate would hands-down be their chocolate banana one. There is nothing that can beat this combination, unless you add in a little caramel and bam, perfect.
I like how the chocolate at Awfully Chocolate is so rich and absolutely delicious. I'm pretty impressed with their service too, the girls there are always so bubbly and greet you all the time. I've not had their ice cream but I heard that's pretty nice too.
It's impossible to not love Awfully Chocolate if you're a big big fan of chocolate! I am. But... other than their amazing cakes, have you tried their ice cream?
People usually buy their cakes. I love their super stacked chocolate cake, I personally feel that's the best out of all that they sell, even better than a whole cake by itself. I like that the chocolate layers are stacked very closely and thinly. It adds more texture and gives a fuller taste to the cake. But of course, the cake is still amazing. I don't like their salted butterscotch though.
But their ice cream. I never knew they sold ice cream until my friend recommended it to me. They have the BEST chocolate ice cream you can find. Honestly. Chocolate lovers, you really must have their ice cream.
In general, Awfully Chocolate is amazing. But it's not that they have the best chocolate cakes in town. It is just good enough to satisfy your taste buds,
Awfully Chocolate is my number one choice for chocolate cakes. I've been ordering cakes from there for my friends' and family members' birthdays because seriously, who can say no to a rich, moist and sinfully good chocolate cake?
I like their Chocolate Banana Cake. The balance between the thick chocolate and sliced bananas is perfect. People who do not like the banana-chocolate combination can opt for the original Chocolate Cake. Personally, I'm not a fan of extremely sweet stuff so I find most cakes out there too creamy and sweet. However, Awfully Chocolate's cakes are not too sweet, yet they are still very moist and tasty.
Another item I frequently order from Awfully Chocolate's menu is their Hei Ice Cream. The chocolate taste is extremely think and so sinfully good. The portions are really big too, so usually I'll just share one serving with another friend.
The store decor is what attracted me in the first place, clean and simple, it just stands out in the midst of all the other shops. Their cakes and what not are displayed artistically, what is more eye-catching and honestly irritating, is there isn't a single price tag, you would have to approach the assistants for help (friendly assistants by the way).
I want to say that they have one of the best chocolate ice creams around, rich, chocolatey but not over the top, the whiff of cocoa aroma is delicious, not too sweet nor too dark. It is a literally treat, not too expensive too, one scoop for $3.80.
I usually buy White Chocolate Butterscotch Block when it comes to cakes. But I would only get 100g since it would get heavy on the stomach if you eat too much of it. White Chocolate Creme Brulee Tart is a sweet treat, which I would say it's not bad as well, if you don't mind the sweetness. I once got a poached chocolate with butterscotch drizzle cream on top, which was nice but the poached chocolate is very thick and rich, too rich for my preference. The cream do balance it out, but I ended up with leftover poached chocolate. I think it would be heavenly for chocolate lovers who like their chocolate rich, but it is too much for me.
So far, awfully chocolate is pretty good in terms of their quality of desserts, which makes it worth the price, especially so for their chocolate ice cream.
So sinful, but so good.
Awfully chocolate is currently my new favourite place to get anything chocolate, be it chocolate cupcakes, chocolate truffles or that generous scoop of hei chocolate ice cream. Yum, delicious.
Their chocolate is simply amazing. It has a thick and creamy texture that melts in your mouth easily, and I am pleased because they really ensure that the chocolate-y goodness which comes with every bite is true, authentic quality chocolate and not just some cheap substitute.
Their outlets are also quite easy to spot, as most of them have a black and white theme, which I like a lot as it is simple yet chic. The girls (so far I haven’t seen any guys) are also very friendly and don’t pressure you into buying anything and that I feel is a huge plus!
