Home club is really a place for local metal bands. I went here to watch a gig of metal bands. It can be loud for people who are not into it. But come on let's support our own!
Home club is not just for metal heads and "rockers". They invite amazing DJs who remix reggae with house and trance. Very very groovy beat. However, some of the crowds are too shy to shake their hips to the wonderful beat. The dance floor is also too small compared to other clubs or pub.
Drinks wise, they offer the usual but I think the unique on their menu list is the absinthe. My friend tried a glass of it and he was speaking alien language after.
Home Club is the place to go if you are looking for some local music acts and generally a place to hang with your pals. I've been to the venue on several occasions, normally accompanying my friends who are having their gigs.
I have to say that when compared to the more popular nightspots, this place may seem lacking and even a little boring. However, it is without a doubt one of the better places in our little nation to really get to know 'local' culture. With renowned bands such as Fall of Mirra to up-and-coming indie groups playing almost on a nightly basis, the atmosphere is one that anyone who is a music fan can appreciate.
Drinks are a little expensive here though, so do not be surprised when the bill has more numbers than you are accustomed to.
Home club exudes a very 'youthful' vibe to me, and it always came across to me as a hangout for teenagers who enjoy indie music and loud music. I'm not sure why it is called Home Club when it does not feel at all like a home.
I have never gone in the club per se, but instead I spent a few hours with a few friends at the bar outside. I could not wait for us to adjourn somewhere else as the music was so loud and the place was very humid and service was terrible.
If you are in the whole indie music scene, this place is for you. If you are looking for places to relax, this is definitely not the right place.
I think I’m too kind to just give this place 2.5 upon 5 in rating but I have my reasons so please hear me out. I came to home club thrice so far and each time I’m there, I do not feel at home. No, the reason isn’t because I don’t drink cocktails at home. It is because the home club did not give me a feeling of home. At least not with the loud music blaring from the inside club whilst I chill outside with my friends.
The drinks are not cheap either and the service is not great. I took 5 minutes, waving my hands in the air and only sandflies attended to me. Jokes aside, I honestly hope the service would make a greater improvement because I do not see how long it can survive. Oh, their table candle light holders are their saving grace to make the club seem homely. Almost wanted to go IKEA buy the exact same thing.
Home Club, as its name suggests, makes one feel at home with its chilled laidback outdoor setting which the crowd is most of the times when there is no event. Outdoors, it is a rad place to catch up with your friends in between a few drinks. The ambience is great at Home Club as well. At Home Club, you feel less inclined to dress up to the nines or sluttily (UGH) because the focus is really on music and chatting up with friends or hooking up with more interesting-looking people.
Indoors, it may be a small premise but never mind that. Home Club hosts some awesome local DJ gigs which strikes a chord with the underground alternative music lovers. Also, the bouncers are really friendly sweethearts.
It was right after a session of drinking at Brewerkz that my friends and I decided to come down to Home club. They had wanted to introduce me to the Green monster that's available here. As soon as we reach the proximity of the club, there were loud music greeting us. The music weren't exactly our cup of tea, so we opted to stay out, in the open - the smoking area they called it. When we finally got a table, i grimaced at the sight of it. The table was filled with rubbish and plastic bags of i don't know what, basically, it looked like something at your neighborhood coffee shop. It took a whole 15 minutes before someone actually cleared everything up.
When we got settled with a (finally) cleared table, we ordered up drinks before the order of the day came. Green monster was served in a wine glass, half filled with clear green liquid. After the jagermeister shots and vodka, it wasn't a good idea for you to have that. It tasted purely of alcohol (apparently, it's a absinthe and Bacardi 501 mixture). That drink was vile, but really a good drink to take on if you're game and an absolute alcoholic.
Service wasn't great, it took us up so much time trying to get the attention of any one and then more time waiting for our orders to actually be served. The location wasn't that great either. Honestly, unless you like underground music and got reserved (clean) seats, then find a better place to chill out at.
