It might be the newest mall in Tampines, but there's just something about it that doesn't make me a fan. Sure, they carry some of my most favorite shops like Topshop, Daiso, Uniqlo, etc.. but it just doesn't have the "IT" factor that keeps me coming back. I feel like the whole mall is rather.. cold and impersonal.
Two words that comes to mind when Tampines 1 is mentioned: bad architecture. Seriously, the way the whole mall is designed is awful. The layout and placements of the shops is atrocious and even though at first glance it looks all shiny and pretty, upon closer examination, it's just horrible. And I think that's why I find it so hard to not dislike Tampines 1.
Tampines is such a stronghold of malls already. Everything here is sheer entertainment and it's good enough for the easterners. So this was a bad experience for me. The shops here are not too shabby, the place feels cold and unassuming, nothing too special.
An alright place to go to if you are just looking for new places to go to but you're okay with disappointment. There's also stores of a higher end here so if that floats your boat, sure. If not, stick to Tampines Mall.
