This shopping mall is huge, is high class and most of all it is the shoppers' haven. Takashimaya forms a huge portion of this mall, which is why the mall is also referred to as so. I remember being lost exploring this huge store, which has everything from clothes to accessories. It is really nice to window shop here, and it kind of steals all the attention from the other shops .

It also has other stores which I like to explore, including the amazing Kinokuniya. It has a huge collection of books, and can really kill a lot of time. I once spent my whole afternoon here.

Altogether this mall is one of the best places to window shop, and one of the best malls in the Orchard area.

One of my favourite reasons for going to town

Ngee Ann City was a place my family frquented very often as a child, and for good reason. The basement always has something new with different events going on throughout the year. One of my favourite ones would be the wide aray of mooncakes offered to us when the mooncake festival is around the corner. Till this day, my family still makes it a point to head down to buy mooncakes from the fair.

The food court is also something I look forward to when I go there with a large number of stalls jammed into one small space. I love the hustle and bustle of the place especially during the weekends when it becomes even more packed. I do not see this mall becoming obsolete anytime soon.

Normally, I will visit Ngee Ann City before Mid Autumn Festival, Christmas and Chinese New Year. These are the times where the event square at the basement will hold special sales events.

Before Mid Autumn Festival, the square will gather all the hotels and restaurants selling mooncakes, so within one hour, you can sample the mooncakes from many different brands and also get to see the new flavours introduced for the year.

For Christmas, they will have a big toy fair so you can find some toys as Christmas presents for your children, some of the toys come with very good discounts.

CNY is coming soon, so they should be having a fair selling CNY cookies. Again, you can get to sample a lot of cookies and buy those you like, some at discounted prices. A lot of shopping malls will also have such events but I think the scale at Ngee Ann City is the biggest so I like visiting their events.

Fairs and food!

First thing i would come here for would be their food hall at the basement and the fairs held at the atrium. I guess many would have the same sentiments too.

The foodhall holds regular little food fairs there, quite a few from Japan, like the previous hokkaido food fair selling a range of japanese food products which is rather hard to find in other departmental stores. The food hall holds many little small shops selling a variety of food and 3 bakeries, all which sells damn good bread.

The fairs held there also sell stuff at discounted, cheap prices which I would make a point to visit if im free. Especially the mooncake fairs, the testing the individual stalls is enough to fill one up!

Ngee Ann City is a great place for shopping; it has high-street and designer labels, a huge departmental store - Takashimaya - and various restaurants with a range of prices. Every time I'm bored with the more popular malls like 313 and ION, I always pop by Ngee Ann City, and it is usually much less crowded.

I like to visit the huge Kinokuniya upstairs, which is always packed with people but you can find almost any book you want to read in there.

The best part about Ngee Ann City for me would definitely be Takashimaya, where I could spend hours just browsing through the many racks of clothes of different brands. The food hall is basically a food haven; there's Takopachi, which sells the best takopachi in Singapore, Bakerzin and many more. The food there is slightly pricey, but still affordable.

With one end of the mall housing a huge departmental stall, Takashimaya, and the other side generally for boutique branded shops, Ngee Ann City really is gigantic and would be able to fulfill most of your shopping needs, regardless of who you are.

I valued Ngee Ann City for the food options more than anything though and the Mos Burger in the basement used to my one of my favorite haunt, used to until the point it has been taken over by Epi Center now. Nonetheless, I still managed to fill myself, be it from the snacks available at the basement of Takashimaya (there's also Flor here, a Japanese cake shop that I highly recommend for their novel cake ideas) or the numerous restaurants available within the mall. From time to time, when there is Japanese food fares being held in the basement of Takashimaya, I always burst my budget, having to try out different Japanese food, freshly cooked there and then and I still can't forget the savory grilled squid with rice. The rice being stuffed into the squid before grilling gives it an aroma that's strong yet pleasuring (at least to me).

Kinokuniya available at the other end of the huge mall is also one of the main reasons for attracting me to the mall, for its huge and carries many books of different genres. The bookshop is actually built in a circular shape and it might be different to look for the genres of books you want, much less the book itself but luckily, the staff are generally friendly enough to help you out with that.

Ngee Ann City was one of the very few malls that I frequent along the famous shopping haven in Singapore, Orchard Road. There are quite a number of international luxury brands in this shopping mall, ranging from sportswear- Nike, Puma, etc to fragrance galleries- Jo Malone and brands like Juicy Couture, Zara, etc.

There is a Japanese departmental store in there- Takashimaya. Not exactly it is Japanese (the food, signage, products, etc.), but more of a commercial Western kind than a traditional Japanese ones. This would be where most of us get reasonable priced, quality products though there are boutiques like Coach, Agnes. B, Jimmy Choo, etc. There are food courts and eateries at the other side of the mall, where you can find street snacks as well as Royce Chocolates.

My favorite would be the level where there's street food as well as a supermarket. The stalls had a quite a reasonable pricing and they are yummy! The customer service provided was exceptionally great! Often, there are fairs held at the atrium where products are entitled to a certain discount that couldn’t be gotten in the stores. Sometimes, the washrooms are bit confusing whereby there are actually 2 exits that leads to different parts of the building.

A mall not to be missed by both locals and tourists!

Ngee Ann had been my favourite place since secondary school. My friends and I would go there to get the squared ice cream after school! We would hang out at th kinokuniya for hours before proceeding to the basement areas to find food! The place is really a great place to chill, especially near the fountain at the basement. Many people would take some rest there.

Ngee Ann has been located at a strategic place. It is near to the Cathay Cineleisure, at the same time, near to Wisma Atria and Lucky Plaza. Just take the underground stairs, one would easily reach Lucky Plaza! What I like about Ngee Ann is the exhibition that frequently attracts a lot of audience. There was once, a Disney character came down to the town, and the children , including myself, were so excited. It was like an entertainment at no cost at all!

During Christmas, Ngee Ann city would be decorated so magnificently that one could not believe that this was Ngee Ann City. It would be an ideal place for couples to just enjoy the scenery and still have great time, at no cost!

main attraction: Takashimaya

Ngee Ann City has a very inviting vibe. Many people gather around the steps of the building to catch-up and even more people would be seen shopping in it.

I love visiting Takashimaya every time I am in Ngee Ann City. It is a Japanese brand departmental store catered to everyone. It has plenty of levels divided into different categories. My favorite would have to be the Beauty section at Level 1. It stocks all the international brands and some brands that I can't get at Sephora (which by the way, is located at Ngee Ann City as well). It would be the best place to source for gifts for your loved ones as there is bound to be something to choose from the myraid of things sold. The basement of Takashimaya is a food galore! I love the Chocolate Ganache cake from Rive Gauche Patisserie, at $6.50/slice it is definitely worth every single penny. Tori-Q meat skewers and Beard Papa cream puffs are not to missed as well. I am drooling as I'm writing this... they are simply fantastic.

Ngee Ann City also has the biggest Watsons store in town. Check out the latest drugstore make-up or get your daily necessities there. If you wish to rest your legs after a tiring shopping spree, you can choose from a range of restaurants located at the upper levels of the mall.
