I frequent the branch at Singapore Botanic Gardens. Based within Singapore's most historical garden park, this Food For Thought branch celebrates family, rest and sustainable living.

People who want to visit the place should take note to enter the place by the entrance at Cluny Road, as Food for Thought (FFT) is located there. It's a convenient location as there is a bus stop right outside the entrance, and people are able to drive in and park their cars at the basement carpark right next to FFT.

What attracts me to FFT over and over again is the huge dining area that follows a natural and simplistic concept. The restaurant is huge and spacious, and I love the natural lighting that comes in through the huge glass panels at the side. Communal dining is encouraged at FFT, where people can sit together and interact with their friends or even strangers. With the ingenious seating arrangement, barriers are broken and conversations flow easily.

My favourite food is probably their Slow Pulled Pork Burger ($9). Cooked perfectly and paired with potato chunks - oh so delicious! Already mentally drooling while typing this. Another of my favourite food will All-Day Breakfast. Diners can customise their own breakfast, and I ALWAYS go for the mushrooms, which are always so juicy, so succulent.

After your meal, you can always get out and embrace the sweet nature. Go for a stroll with your friends or family members within the Garden to complete the experience.

All in all, Food for Thought is definitely one of my favourite dining places in Singapore. The environment, the food, the people, everything just caters to my taste. Perfect.

Nice food and great people. I love how the staff are extremely well mannered and genuinely hope to enhance your dining experience. The decor is simple but chic and pleasing to the eye. The menu and table mats have the cutest illustrations.

But the real show snatcher here are the breakfast courses. Pancakes are a great size and can quickly fill you up so I suggest sharing with a friend should you want to try several flavours. I couldn't help but gobble down my banana and chocolate chip pancakes and even though I was pretty full after that I couldn't help but yearn for more. Definitely worth trying out!

best pancakes!
Overall Score

I recommended Food For Thought to all of my family members because of their delicious pancakes. I have tried all of their different flavours before and I would recommend the Mixed Berries one best. Dark Chocolate & Raspberries is good too although their raspberries are really sour.

I would also recommend their scones which come with butter and - wait for it - dragonfruit jam! It is quite interesting in flavor and the warm buttery goodness goes really well with it. They also allow you to customize your own brunch which I find really fun.

I also like how they encourage you to enjoy good food while providing for a good cause as well. Portions of the profits made by Food For Thought goes to support the many causes they believe in. You can read more about them on your placemats as you eat. Such quirky ideas for interior decor can be commonly seen, so do look carefully when you're there!

Expect long queues at the Queen St branch (about 15 minutes wait), although I have never encountered such a problem at the Botanic Gardens branch due to their larger seating capacity.

the full works and range of pancakes are great for sharing with friends

Having a meal at Food for Thought makes me feel that I am not in Singapore. Located along Queen Street, it is a small café situated snugly between buildings.

Going with friends, the full works, a meal under the breakfast column is recommended for sharing. At $18, the whole platter consists of scrambled eggs, bacon, mushrooms, hash browns, and several others. This platter will be able to serve about four people. The mushrooms are the best in the platter and we could not resist not ordering an additional serving of it, as the garlic smell and taste is not strong and the mushrooms are very juicy. For dessert, a serving of the duo of pancakes can be shared as well. I tried the mixed berries and found the pancake soft and the fruits fresh. It makes a great dessert, but is very filling.

Food for Thought will be a nice place to enjoy an afternoon hi-tea with friends, in the laid-back environment, watching the cars and world go by.
