A quick Google search would have you a good impression of Shunjuu Izakaya, not to mention an opened appetite. Voted as one of the top 100 restaurants in Singapore, Shunjuu does seem like one of the must-try Japanese restaurants.

Their acclaimed Sumiyaki (charcoal grilled food on a stick — think Tori Q) is indeed loved for the right reasons. Order the Set B ($28 for 5 sticks, seemingly pricey but wait till you get your first bite) which is inclusive of ribeye, scallops, foie gras, chicken wings and rice cake wrapped in pork slices. I give two thumbs up for the foie gras and the tender beef ribeye! Just these two sticks alone and I got my money’s worth.

My garlic fried rice was also the highlight of the meal. Skip the bento boxes and noodle dishes — you get better value at Sushi Tei.
