Maxwell is actually a good option if you are in the Tanjong Pagar/Chinatown area and looking for a quick and affordable meal. My most recent visit was to try out the $2 minced meat/fishball noodles stall and was I pleasantly surprised! Good food definitely does not have to cost a bomb. Though the portion was a little less than average, the quality sure made up for it.

One of the most popular stalls I witnessed was the fish porridge stall — I’ve yet to try it personally but judging from the long queues, it seems like I should!

What really impressed me about this food centre is the cleanliness of the toilet. The sparkling floor was clear of litter and hygiene was kept at a very high standard. You have to pay a $0.10 levy for your ‘entry’, but it is definitely more than worth it.
