Tori-Q lunchbox has been my one of my top favourite since I was in secondary school! It's a pity most Tori-Q stores does not provide much seats for customers to dine-in, but that doesn't deter me from buying a lunchbox and just standing at some free-standing area to consume it.

Priced between $0.70 to $1.50 per stick of meat, Tori-Q is actually something I'd consider as a snack instead of a real meal. Even it's lunchbox itself, albeit very tasty, is not enough to satisfy a hungry stomach easily. For one lunchbox, the cheapest costing about $5.20, it comes with 4 sticks of the meat with rice accompanied by seaweed and some Japanese sauce, which I find awfully delectable. It used to cost only $4.50, so with this price hike, I have cut down on consuming it as often as I would like to. However, if you simply purchase the sticks of meat alone, although they are really tasty, it would easily sum up to about the same price but not fulling.

If you are looking for a real Japanese cuisine, obviously Tori-Q wouldn't be the correct choice. However, if you are looking for a quick Japanese snack, why not give Tori-Q a try?

Quality Japanese snack
Overall Score

4.5
Tori Q is an ideal choice for a simple, fuss free and delicious meal or more often than not, a snack. Whenever I come into the vicinity of a Tori Q outlet, I’d feel like buying just 1 or 2 skewers to munch on for fun while I seek a proper dinner elsewhere. My favourite orders are the chicken skewers, together with the chicken skin. Each skewer is priced reasonably (a few cents over $1), thus making it Tori Q a to-go destination for quality and affordable finger food.

Other than just skewers, the bento box option is also available and good for those who wish to have a quick meal.

However, Tori Q doesn’t exactly have an outlet space big enough to contain all of its consumers. I have ever tried consuming a bento box at the Jurong Point outlet. Since there were only 2 of us, it was acceptable but we left quickly after finishing our meal. Seats are always often taken, and it is rather difficult to have a sit down dinner, even with the outlet seats. Perhaps this is their concept to cater to people who are too busy for a proper dinner. All in all, Tori Q is a successful establishment and can satisfy both children and adults alike.

Quick fix of Japanese food
Overall Score

4.5
Looking for somewhere to get a quick fix for some Japanese food? Tori-Q might just be the place for you. From meat of sticks otherwise known as yakitori to bento boxes and set meals, it is suitable for take-outs. In most stores, they have seats for diners who choose not to take away as well.

For yakitori, the sauce complements the meat and it is not a bad combination. However, there is a tendency of meat getting a little charred at the sides. If you are looking for a quick bite or craving for some protein, here is something to look out for! No, unless during lunch hours, the stores do not have ridiculously long queues. As it acts mainly as a take-out place, the waiting time in the queue will not be too long either.

Those looking for a filling meal can go for the bento box or set meal. Each set meal comes with either three to four sticks of yakitori (dependent on price), Japanese rice topped with sauce and roasted seaweed strips as well as shibazuke. Shibazuke is fermented eggplant with herbs and ginger, otherwise known as pickles. It can get a tad salty but it goes well if you eat it with the rice or meat. Overall, it had been satisfactory and the prices are reasonable too. I wouldn't mind going back if I need a quick fix for some Japanese food!

I have always liked Tori Q's yakitori. It costs about a dollar a stick which is still alright, and it always tastes good. Tori Q has not disappointed me so far. One of my favourites has got to be their teriyaki chicken yakitori; the meat is juicy and succulent, and the teriyaki sauce is just awesome. They are never too stingy with the sauce as well! It is therefore no wonder that there is often a queue at Tori Q. While it does little to fill up your stomach, it still serves as a good delicious snack when you go shopping at Bugis.

One of the best places for a quick yakitori snack! It's conveniently located in many shopping malls and whenever I'm craving some good yakitori, Tori-Q always comes to my mind.

Unlike the many others I've tried, the yakitori (or grilled chicken in Japanese) is always warm and tender. My favourite would be the chicken with bell pepper and the pork with asparagus. Even as much as I hate bell peppers, after grilling to softness and dipped in their special sweet sauce, it has become my all time favourite.

You can also order the set meals that come with Japanese rice, 4 sticks of yakitori and purple pickles. The price depends on what kind of yakitori you want. I like to ask for less sweet sauce when I'm having it with rice if not my rice would usually be smothered in sweet sauce which can be a little too much.

Although this may not be a good idea for a regularly lunch meal as it does not come with any vegetables or fruits and would be quite unhealthy if even regularly.

Some outlets have a dine in section for a quick lunch, do note that it gets pretty crowded sometimes. Service is always quick and the portion for the sets are generous. For a simple lunch, this is a good choice.

Tori Q's been around for the longest time and they've got outlets everywhere in Singapore. That, I'm thankful for because those fragrant sticks of charred meats often call out to me whenever I'm near a Tori Q outlet. The queue is never-ending but clears fast with those deft fingers behind the panelled glass.

I used to just get a few sticks of skewered meats drenched in flavourful sauces when I'm feeling peckish but recently gave their bento sets a go. These bento sets are surprisingly filling and if you are a fan of seaweed, feel free to request for more - their smiley staff will gladly give you more without charging extra!

These are priced ~$6 so that makes of a reasonably priced meal if you're looking to have your Japanese fast food fix. Oh, I like their chicken balls best out of everything else they have on the menu!

Singaporeans love Japanese food, but it's really hard to find cheap but delicious Japanese food here, especially yakitori. However, Tori-Q is one of my favourite places as the food they sell are really reasonably priced and delicious.

I like how they offer different bento sets, and each set includes a variety of yakitori sticks so that customers can have a taste of different meat in one package. I am attracted to their sauce, which I have failed to find anywhere else. The sauce is very fragrant and flavourful, which compliments the succulent meat.

Also, I like how Tori-Q packs their food into those packaging boxes, which makes it easy for people to eat out of, and also easy for takeaways. Affordable, delicious and convenient.

Many people know Tori Q as a Japanese fast food that fixes your hunger fast. Providing on stick delicacies, customers are spoilt for choice of meat to choose from. The meats are marinated and seasoned well that it tastes so good and tender.

Apart from selling just the on stick delicacies, Tori Q offers an optional of set meals, usually with 3 choice of on stick meat and additional rice. When I first had my Tori Q set meal, I was amazed by the rice dispenser that they used. So customers need not fret of the staff hygiene in handling rice and rest assured that the proportions of rice given to every customers is about the same.
The set meal was prepared and stored inside a disposable box for convenience.

Tori Q is definitely great for meat lovers as you can expect no vegetables given, except for the seaweed and pickles  topping ( and that is optional too )

This stall is recommendable for everyone, especially for those who find the food court too crowded during lunch hour. It is an enjoyable quick fix to your hunger. Talking about the price, I feel that they might have set the price too high for such a set meal ( rice and 3 on stick meats) . It ranges from $4.50 - $5, depending on your order. Nevertheless, it is still worthwhile to have it once in awhile.

For those who are going to try Tori  Q anytime soon, remember to ask extra dip in sauce for all your on stick meats for stronger flavour. The staff would be glad to grant your wish.

Tori-Q is like Japan's answer to our cries for Asian fast food. Meat skewers dipped into sauce, and then nestled on sticky white rice and drenched with gravy, with a side of sour purple pickles. Yumz. However for me I prefer my rice plain so I ask them to skip the sauce!

I used to avoid the pickles, till I tried it one day with the chicken skewer. It went so well together I finished all the pickles and started looking for more. The sour taste goes well with the slightly charred meaty taste.

It amazes me how they always move super quickly despite how long the queue is, and I've never had a rude server at Tori-Q too :) I feel it's quite reasonably priced at a full meal for

I love the variety of meat on stick (mostly pork or chicken) that they have. My personal favourites are the pork, chicken balls and the all time best seller chicken stick (yakitori). The pork comes with a little juicy pork fat as you work your way down the stick. Its slightly charred smell fills your nostrils and it is a heavenly feeling. As for the chicken balls, its big and meaty and I love it drenched in the sweet sauce that they dip the sticks of meat in before serving. The all time best seller is simply chicken thigh cubes on stick. But it is so good because there are the little bits of skin in between the meat cubes and when it gets cook, some parts get nice and charred and crispy. For chicken skin lovers, they even sell chicken skin on a stick. My friend always orders that when we get Tori Q.

If you would like to have a more satisfying meal, I suggest you opt for their lunch bento set that comes with Japanese rice, pickles and 4 sticks of chicken/pork. Of course I always order Bento A as it contains 2 chicken stick, 1 pork stick and 1 chicken ball stick, all my favourite over hot steamy rice. It makes for a really satisfying meal at just $5.60 and you can be sure that it is piping hot. While you are queuing, you can look at the automated grilling machine which is really quite innovative and I am sure cuts down on manual labour.

To increase the customer experience, it will be great if they could expand their shop spaces to include more seats and tables for customers. Currently most stores do not have seats and those that have only have the high table bar with a few high chairs which is not seat friendly for ladies wearing skirts and kids.
