Need to hide out from life for a few hours AND surround yourself with the comfort of delicious pies? Then you should head on over to Windowsill Pies (formerly known as Windowsill in the Woods). They’re known for their non-savoury pies but if you’re looking for something less sweet, they do offer all sorts of savoury food as well. And if you really need to get some mee goreng in your tummy before or after getting your pie fix, then Prata House is literally across the road. It’s along that Upper Thomson stretch of hipster cafes.
My recommendation is the Camp Symmetry pie. There’s probably an explanation to its name but all you really need to know is that This. Pie. Is. Divine. It was created for a one-off event but it was such a crowd-pleaser that the owner decided to include it on the regular menu. It’s that good. It’s chocolate indulgence at its most sinful: Rich white chocolate ganache, white truffle infused crunchy cookie streusel, candied thyme and meringue mushroom. A slice of pie with all that sweet goodness is hard to come by.

The other flavours of pies don’t disappoint either. You should also definitely try their classic Pecan & Pumpkin, Strawberry Lemon and Sparkling Yuzu pies. Windowsill Pies takes online orders and provide delivery service as well so even if you’re thinking of staying cooped up in bed, you have no excuse to not get your hands on their amazing pies.

Windowsill Pies (originally Windowsill in the Woods) is a quaint, homely cafe that serves up artisanal coffees, dessert pies and savoury pies. Originated along Horne Road, they relocated to Soo Chow Walk after a change of management. Dessert pies and coffee are available all day however, the savory menu is only available on weekends. I’ve been there on a weekday afternoon and it was really quiet, perfect for a date or when you need some time alone. There are plenty of electric sockets available for use and also free wifi for dine in customers.

My favorite dessert pies are the Pineapple Passionfruit Yoghurt ($7.50), Camp Symmetry ($8), Pumpkin Pecan ($7), Banana Cognac ($7) and Honey Macadamia ($8). For the savoury menu, the Farmer’s Pie ($9) is my favorite because the ingredients are simple yet flavorsome. They also serve pasta but not for the faint hearted! Their Chicken Heart and Squid Pasta ($14) is unique and flavorsome, you can request for it to be non spicy if you can’t take the heat.

Overall, Windowsill Pies will not give you a bad time in terms of food, drinks and customer service. I highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone looking for a good dessert place!

Cutesy, quaint little cafe that sells sweet pies. Although it would be cool to also have a savory selection as well. They also offer a cool range of teas too!! My pick is the rooibos tea.

My favorite pie has got to be the Truffle-white chocolate flavored one. I don't think it's a permanent fixture on the menu but try your luck! It's probably the best semi sweet semi savory dessert ever. Best of both worlds!

Otherwise, go for the pecan or strawberry lemon pies on the menu. Kudos to the servers who patiently recommend each pie flavor to customers, because most people walk in and their first line would be 'oh so many pies, what is what?' Ask for their recommendation, or pick a random slice, it's going to be yummy nonetheless.
