I'm the type of person who doesn't like cake that is creamy and buttery. Therefore, getting a cake for my birthday would be a very tough decision as bakery shops outside normally sell butter cake or cake with a lot of cream as decoration . However, my family managed to find Rive Gauche at Takashimaya basement level through friend's recommendation. And till now, I've tried most of the cake, Guanaja, Mango, Cheese Cake, Mango Cheese Cake and etc.

One size "5" cake should cost around $32-$36 for family of 3-4 people. Even though it was a bit expensive compared to other bakery shops like Four Leaves, i would say that it is worth buying as cakes are make daily and deliver to the outlets. Customers can also called their shops to reserve a cake for certain occasions as the cake might be sold out.

The best cake that i would like to recommend is Gaunaja Chocolate Cake. *yummy*. It has a layer of crispy biscuit at the bottom layer that totally capture my heart. The amount of chocolate use is just prefect. It is not too sweet that will stop you from eating a few mouth. Just try it, you would never regret.. Cause till now, i'm still craving for this chocolate cake and hope that my family would buy it for my birthday this year.

The best cake i've ever tried, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! *Thumbs up*

I recently bought their Size 5 Guanaja cake for my mum's birthday. Despite not being a chocolate fan, I was won over the first time I had it for one of my friend's birthday party. Dark, rich, smooth and really really chocolatey are the words I can use to describe this cake.

Although pricey for such a small size, I guess every bite was worth it. Plus, you can't really eat much of it at one go anyway, The service was excellent. The lady at the counter kindly allowed me to keep my cake in the fridge for collection at a later hour. To keep the cake chilled, they even have ice packs inside the box. Great staff, great packaging. Will definitely go again to try their other cakes.

By the outlook of this small bakery, it has this classy feel. The name (Rive Gauche) of the shop and the colour schemes used on their logo (gold & brown) exudes a very sophisticated vibe. I’ve always walked past this bakery at their Takashimaya outlet and have always thought that their cakes would be pricey.

But to my pleasant surprise, it is soooo affordable especially for the quality that we are paying. I am not sure whether they still have this promotion going on. Just 1 month ago, I signed up for their membership for $20 and in return, they give you a $20 voucher!!! And being a member, you get 10% discount ( if I didn’t remember wrongly) off all cakes! I used the voucher for our mother’s day cake.

The staff highly recommended the mango cake and so, I bought that. My family LOVES the cake. The taste is just right and they are very generous with the mangoes topping. The cake is also not overly sweet. The staff at Rive Gauche are very polite and always ready to give recommendations for their occasions etc. I will definitely be back for more cakes especially with 10% discount!

What can I say to justify how amazing Rive Gauche's cakes taste? I was deciding on a birthday cake for my friend when I was recommended to try Rive Gauche's Guanaja ($36, 12x13cm). While I do believe that it isn't a bad thing that the bitter sweet chocolate cake was extremely rich, I struggled to finish it. Therefore, be content with a small slice of the cake and you are good to go.

I have tried their strawberry shortcake ($28, 15cm) on my 19th birthday and it was decent, not the best. There are better strawberry shortcakes out there. Recently, I have set my eyes on their tiramisu, hopefully I'll get to try it in the near future.

Rive Gauche offers a wide selection of mouthwatering cakes that are all quite pricey, though it's difficult to find cakes of good quality that are priced less steep than theirs. I'm just excited simply by the thought of their cakes! To me, their cakes are worth every cent.

Unfamiliar with the brand Rive gauche, I was curious when my relative brought in this cake to a party. Safe to say, I haven't forgotten the name ever since that night 2 years ago.

Gosh their cakes are one of the classiest I've seen and tasted! I especially love their Strawberry Shortcake and their Mont Blanc, possibly two of the best cakes I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. Whatever the filings of any cake, I've found that Rive Gauche one are very smooth and go down easily.

I'm only hoping that they come out with more flavours for me to dig in to!

Rive Gauche by itself already has quite a romantic and sophisticated name which gives it a good first impression. Their products also definitely live up to their name.

I have purchased from Rice Gauche patisserie before, both times for a friend's birthday cake. The designs of their cakes are simple and glamorous, such as with golden glitter over a chocolatey dark brown base. The shop itself also has a warm wood-based setting which adds to the romantic parisan feel.

Recently, my friend got a 3.8kg cake from this patisserie for her 21st birthday. It was a dark chocolate layer cake with a biscuit/cereal base. Not only was the presentation appealing, but the taste was a melt-in-your-mouth perfection with a surprising crunch. The crunchy cereal base is just the right thickness to contrast the softness of the sponge layers in between.

Although a few of my friends could not finish their slice because the amount of chocolate was too rich and sweet for them, I myself thoroughly enjoyed every bite of it! I only declined a second slice because it was really filling to have a single slice already.

I will definitely look to purchasing from Rive Gauche for future events and celebration purposes.

I remember walking past Rive Gauche so many times, but only paused to stare at the pretty cakes. I bought my first cake from Rive Gauche for a friend's birthday, I was persuaded by the lady at the store to try the Guanaja, and I was hooked from that day onwards!! The chocolate cake was moist, creamy and rich in just the right amount. Accompanied by the crunchy kit-kat-ish base, this piece of cake was absolutely perfect in every way.

Eventually I tried other cakes from Rive Gauche, such as the mango cake and strawberry shortcake, and each time I tried something new from them, I was pleasantly surprised.

Also, I know it may be considered pricey to some people, but trust me, their cakes are worth every cent!

Rive Gauche is an underrated cake shop that deserves more attention! My whole family and I love their cakes so much that we order it for any family occasion and birthdays. That's how much we love the cakes! My personal favorite would be the Guanaja cake. It is made up of a generous amount of dark and milk chocolate which tastes extremely good and satisfying. IT is nothing like I have tasted before. It has a crust at the bottom. I always finish off the cake, leaving the crust for the last to be savored slowly. This chocolate cake is a complex one and it is a must-try for both chocolate and non-chocolate lovers alike. This is THE cake that would turn a non-chocolate lover to a chocolate fanatic. Very highly-recommended.

All the cakes that I have tasted there are of a very high-quality. Not to mention, it tastes extremely good. Prices are steeper than other shops like BreadTalk and Prima Deli but really, the I would gladly pay much more for the cakes here. Another must-try besides the cakes would be the banana crepe with whipped cream. The whipped cream is sweet, light and fluffy. The banana is so fresh and all of these are enclosed in a delicious crepe. Do patronize this shop for the cakes the next time you need a cake. Trust me, you won't regret it!

I accompanied my friend to get a couple of cakes from Rive Gauche; well, initially I have never heard of this shop. When I went in, the lady over the counter welcomed us with a smile and asked us if there is anything she could help. Apparently, I didn't intend to get any cake from that shop, only my friend did. She told me to try the Guanaja cake which is the shop's signature cake. Initially, I was amused by the name of the cake and doubting the flavour and the quality of the cake.

So, we ordered a slice of Guanaja cake and by the way, you could order the whole piece of that cake at a cheaper price. Basically, Guanaja is like the combination of hazelnut and chocolate cake. The layers have soft texture and crunchy base. The chocolate cream is not too sweet. Actually I was thinking if that the Guanaja goes better with sugar icing, maybe it's the best for the sweet tooth. But overall, I love the Guanaja.

Actually I also spotted the pretty mango cake at the counter but never get to try it because I was pretty full from eating the Guanaja. But overall, it's like mangoes on top of the creamy and spongy vanilla cake. When I visit this hop again, I will definitely try the mango cake.

A fruit cake from Rive Gauche for my surprise birthday celebration. The look of the cake itself is enough to prove that this is one cake that will add a touch of glam to any occasion or party.

Rive Gauche used to have only a few stores on this little island, but more and more branches have sprouted out over the months, especially in newer shopping malls such as Tampines 1 and JCube, bringing this delicacy of a cake closer to more and more Singaporeans.

I’ve always been a fan of fruit cake, but maybe that’s cos I’ve had it since I was a kid and I was never a fan of cream cakes despite their cute exteriors. Rive Gauche has just brought fruit cakes to a whole new level. Here I must clarify, fruit cakes meaning those sponge cakes topped with fruits, not festive fruit cakes with glazed fruits (which I really cant bring myself to eat).

The thin sponge fingers, even meringue like fingers add a sort of delicateness to the cake, differentiating it from its peers which are generally decorated with cream. The large whole fruits are really sweet, but more importantly, naturally sweet. The sponge interior is light yet moist and crumbly. If you do enjoy a good fruit cake for your party, Rive Gauche is definitely the place to choose from
