Words cannot describe how I feel about Plain Vanilla cupcakes. But in hopes to convert you to these bite-sized glorious creations, I will try.

I first tried on at a flea market in the National Museum. It was the mint-green logo that caught my eye. But it was the taste that turned me into a zealot. Upon trying the cinnamon brown sugar cupcake, my life was changed forever. It was like biting into a flavourful cloud that was neither too moist or dry but a delicate balance in-between. The fragrance of the cinnamon melded together with the soft sweetness of the brown sugar and as you chewed, you realised that the cupcake god was born and her name was Vanessa, that's the owner by the way. I don't know how she does it but she turns all other cupcakes to stodgy, cloyingly sweet sponges. So far there's only been one other brand that's matched up, but that's a story for another day.

Plain Vanilla manages to create the perfectly balance, no, symmetry, of flavours, fragrances and textures needed in a perfect cupcake and the icing used has never disappointed either. It never overwhelms but brings out the flavours of the cupcakes. While their flavours aren't the most innovative, they are the best of each.

Be sure to try my other two favourites as well! The earl grey lavender and the salted caramel: Pinnacles of perfection.

Despite the high prices and caloric values, their desserts are a must-try.

Plain Vanilla Bakery is anything but plain. I love their cupcakes, and they come in many flavours that are unique and innovative. I especially love one of the classics though - the red velvet cupcake never fails to send me into a sugar rush/sweet high.

The simple decor and layout make for a rather uncluttered buying experience, although the crowd messes it up a bit - but I suppose they are just that good. I don't mind the wait, even if it stretches for half an hour (the longest I've waited for a box of their cupcakes).

My family loves these too, and I'm always seen as a super filial daughter whenever I arrive home bearing these, so if you have someone you want to placate, pick up a box!

I've heard all the rage about Plain Vanilla and how good their cupcakes are. As I was busy studying for my exams of late, a friend of mine brought me one of their cupcakes as a surprise.

Cookies and cream, isn't that the classic love? I recommend keeping it refrigerated for a couple of hours or overnight, because it helps the icing to set again, so that it won't be a melting mess when you take a bite. My first bite tasted like heaven! Their cupcakes are so moist, and they're not overly sweet. The amount of icing is in perfect ratio to the amount of batter. With those little cooking crumbs at the top, it just finishes the look!

It's a wonderful gift to give to your friends, or grab as a perk-me-up! Surely a brilliant Valentine's present too, if your girlfriend is one for sweet treats! I'm definitely going back for more!

I really, really love Plain Vanilla's cupcakes. I haven't really found any comparable cupcakes to the ones this shop sells.

For one, I'm a person who doesn't fancy creamy icings or cream cheese. The icing on Plain Vanilla's cupcakes are perfect for me, because they melt in the mouth as soon as you bite it. It's more of a sugary frosting than leaning towards the creamy end, and I am extremely grateful for that.

As for the cupcakes themselves, the texture is wonderful. They're moist, but still chewy. My personal favourites are the Red Velvet and the Cinnamon. But I know of many who love the Strawberry White Chocolate.

In short, the frosting and cupcakes go extremely well together, and I would recommend Plain Vanilla to every cupcake lover.

Plain Vanilla is probably the best cupcake store in Sinagpore. serving up not only classic flavors such as red velvet and cookies and cream, but also interesting flavours such as lavender. The cupcakes are light and fluffy and they're not overly sweet. I also like the fact that they're not only pretty, but they actually taste great.

The Plain Vanilla store in Tiong Bahru has an amazing ambience that allows you to escape from the busy Singaporean lifestyle and fall into a casual conversation, catching up with friends over a nice cupcake and a cup of warm tea. They also have a couple of local books set on the table which customers can browse through at the cafe while they're there. So basically, they're trying to trap with there with the good food and books. It's a great marketing scheme though.

Since my friends have been raving about PV cupcakes for the longest time, and frequently bought batches to school to share, I finally had a chance to see what the commotion was all about. I have a sweet tooth and the cupcake I tried just hit the spot.

Moist without being overpoweringly sweet that it makes you sick, Plain Vanilla cupcakes are one of the better cupcakes in Singapore. My favourite flavour would be the red velvet one. They have this flavour almost in every cupcake shop, and I just have to say that plain vanilla wins all hands down. I would definitely go back to have more, but I wished they would open more stores around the island.

best cupcakes ever!

On a random day, my friend gave me a cupcake, knowing that I am a sucker for cupcakes. I did not think much about it until I took my first bite. I could not believe it! How could something so tiny like that taste so heavenly! I took another bite and I was sold. It was insane!

My friends gave me a hazelnut chocolate cupcake. Other than looking pretty, it tasted so good! The cake was moist and the chocolate/hazelnut cream on top of the cupcake was just right! When I took my third bite, I was pleasantly surprised to know that they've got chocolate filling at the bottom of the cupcake! It may be too sweet for some. But it was just perfect for me! I just had to ask where my friend got they cupcake from. When I found out that it was from plain vanilla, I googled it and was glad to know that it is situated near my place. The very next day, I made my way down to get more cupcakes for myself. Sinful indeed, but totally worth the calories!

Having just come back from London not too long ago, I had a serious cupcake craving (London is home to the world famous hummingbird bakery). When I heard of a bakery selling cupcakes to die for, I knew that I had to make a trip down to try it.

Hidden on top of a row of trendy bars and restaurants in Holland Village, it is easy to miss this small little bakery. Enter the shop and you won't find any seats. The only thing they sell are just a few flavors of cupcakes. However, don't be disappointed because what they lack in variety, they more than make it up with quality.

I tried the Red Velvet Cupcake and it did not fail to impress. In addition to their helpfulness, the friendly smiles of the staff lifted up the atmosphere of the bakery as well. The cupcakes are a bit pricey but I feel that it is really worth the money.

Plain Vanilla is a gem hidden amongst plenty of good restaurants at Holland Village.
It is a Bakery selling lovely, rich, simply delightful cupcakes that warms your soul after taking a bite of your first. You’ll want to read more.

I stumbled upon this wonderful cupcake place when my friend and I were walking around Holland village after our very filling lunch at ‘Everything with Fries’ (also another great place but to dine in). We already had dessert, but when we saw a blackboard sign that had “Fresh cupcakes from the oven upstairs!” we simply couldn’t resist and had to go up the stairs to have a peep at these cupcakes.

Plain Vanilla was tucked cosily into the corner of the above shop, co-shared by a hair salon next door. It definitely wasn’t a place where you could sit down and have tea and a cupcake. We frowned a little at this but went in anyway... Boy, were we glad we did!

The sight that greeted us was delicious. Red Velvets, Chocolate banana, Strawberry white cream, Sugared Cinnamon, and a few other cupcakes were lined up in rows looking perfectly mouth-watering behind a glass display. They were gorgeous. We were immediately greeted warmly by the owner, whom later we found out was Vanessa, and we immediately bought our very first cupcake from her to try on the spot. We chose the chocolate hazelnut. The cupcake, on the first bite, was moist and rich and decadent, something that a chocolate baked product definitely should be, but not overpowering, that the hazelnut flavour actually came through. The icing was not at all too sweet (something that I’ve always found trouble with when I’ve tried other cupcakes in the past) and the cupcake really tasted as amazing as the smell wafting out Plain Vanilla’s oven.

After which we tasted the marvellous chocolate hazelnut cupcake, Vanessa generously offered us a cinnamon brown sugar cupcake just for us to try, which we were certainly delighted by.. and of course, it was really good too.

This first visit was the first of many to come and i frequently go to Plain Vanilla to get my cupcake cravings satisfied and also to say hi to Vanessa. Right now they've become so popular, even popping by before evening sometimes, the shop has only afew cupcakes left! (this is not an exaggeration as their twitter account usually tweets the number of cupcakes they have left in the store so that people wouldn't have to make a wasted trip down)

Now they've introduced new flavours such as Salted Caramel, occasionally Chocolate Stout and they used to have a Lemon Coconut cupcake which was such a huge hit with my mum. Vanessa also sometimes bake extra goodies on sale, like Earl Grey cake loafs, or warm chocolate-y brownies. I have never gotten the chance to try those because once they're on sale, they're off the racks like hot cakes (pun intended).

Plain Vanilla also offers personalized cupcakes for birthdays/baby showers/weddings and such. They beautifully decorate their cupcakes and are very accommodating. Their Facebook page says it all. This is a must-try if you're a cupcake lover. If you're not, try them anyway. You might just turn into one!
