I tried Krispy Kreme donuts because they looked like they would taste delicious. Unfortunately, they don't. I bought the original glazed donut, which was decent, but was only marginally better than the ones from any neighbourhood bakery. My friend was unlucky in her choice of Chocolate Iced Custard Filling. The combination of deep-fried donut and saccharine custard filling was unpleasant.
The donuts are instagram-worthy, but I find more joy in looking at these donuts than actually eating them. Unless I develop a sweet tooth, I don't think I'll be back.
I've tried Krispy Kreme in England before and I liked how they tasted, and they were pretty affordable, so I was really excited when they were opening in Singapore.
Much to my disappointment, the donuts were insanely overpriced! Why would the same donuts cost £2 for 4 on one side of the world and close to $3 for one on the other?
They are good donuts but they are really overpriced and a lot of people don't even see how badly they're being ripped off!
The lines on the day of the opening were sooo long and I personally really don't think it's worth all the hype. All the pictures you see on Instagram? The ones where your friends rave about how good they are? They're doing it for the discount that Krispy Kreme gives when you promote them. It's not that good, trust me.
