To be honest, I didn't know Krispy Kreme and all its hype when it first opened. All I saw was a slew of pictures on my social media and people carrying bags of boxes of donuts around town. I thought they just came to Singapore for a short flash sale.

One thing about Singapore is that we tend to have these short periods of 'hypes', whereby suddenly a certain thing/food/fashion is all the craze and suddenly you see 90% of the people are wearing/eating/having them. Sometimes it really drives me crazy. Likewise for me, after knowing that Krispy Kreme is here for good, I wasn't inclined to queue for 1-2 hours just to get my donut fix.

I'm the 'ill-wait-till-the-hype-dies' sorta person. Then yesterday, mum brought back a single piece of a oreo topped donut for me from work. Krispy Kreme donut without the queue. Brilliant.

On to the taste now. I wasn't really expecting much from them to be frank. Like c'mon, how good can it be? But, BUT. when I took my first bite into the yeasted, fried dough, my mind screamed "HOLY SHIT, THIS NUT IS GOOD". It was so soft, the frosting not too sweet and like their site claims "melt-in-your-mouth'. ooh yea. It took a hell load of willpower for me to leave it for the next day considering it was already midnight.

Seems like someone would/may probably be joining some queues.

Great taste but overpriced!

When Krispy Kreme first opened in Singapore, there was a huge hype which prompted me to buy some of these donuts to try for myself, although I'd already tried Krispy Kreme donuts in Japan a few years back.

I have a very sweet tooth and so to me, the classic glazed donuts were excellent. However, I felt the donuts were way overpriced. Some of my schoolmates managed to purchase the Krispy Kreme donuts and were selling them in school to raise funds for a cause. However, even at the reduced price, each donut still cost over $2. While the donuts are excellent, I don't think they're worth $2.

I think they're great as a treat once in awhile, but for a regular snack? No thanks. I can get cheaper snacks of the same quality elsewhere.

Krispy Kreme doughnuts are undeniably delicious, especially for someone who has a sweet tooth like me. The sweetness that an original flavoured doughnut brings out certainly amazes and keeps me in awe! Adding on, it doesn't get soggy as long as it is kept refrigerated but it will be better if you can eat it right away!

However, despite complimenting for its nice texture and taste, I personally find that they are over-priced. Although they are, indeed, coated and filled with certain flavours that other bakeries may not have been able to provide the doughnut-lovers for, it just doesn't make sense to purchase a doughnut at such an exorbitant price, at least for me.

Of course, having that said, I would still recommend for those who haven't tried to have a taste of it, especially the original flavoured Krispy Kreme doughnut. It is really unique, both in texture as well as in taste!

This review is solely for their original glazed doughnuts that I love!! I don't know what is the magic here and how a simple doughnut with sugary glaze can taste SO good but I guess the simplest food are always the best and most comforting. The dough is soft and the glaze is not overly-sweet, it moistens the bread with every mouth you take. One is never enough for me, I usually have two or three, sometimes four lol. It's something that you will love or hate. I have friends who didn't like the original glazed ones and told me that there's "nothing special" about it.

The price in Singapore is really steep though... $2+ for a doughnut is pricey but it's worth the money because it differentiates itself from the other doughnuts sold in your neighborhood bakery/ breadtalk. It's much much cheaper to get it from BKK/ KL but if you are not going to these two countries and have nowhere else to get your KK, $2+ suddenly seems like an okay price to pay, especially when the craving acts up hahaha

I wouldn't recommend the flavored doughnuts. I have tried their cheesecake donuts and it was horrible. The toppings are hard, tasteless and weird and to mention, it's more pricey than the original glazed ones. So please don't waste your $$$$ on the flavored donuts!! J. Co does better flavored donuts in my opinion. The queue used to be crazy when KK just opened their store in Singapore but the hype has died down quite a lot so you can expect short queues or no queues at all when getting your doughnuts.

I've been wondering, not for the first time, why the quene is just so long just for donuts. I mean, there're plenty of alternative shops right? Like J.Co donuts and Dunkin Doughnuts, shops I've often purveyed for my regular supply of doughnuts.

It wasn't until I tried one that I realised that I've been missing the true essence of a doughnut all along. Imagine sinking your teeth into a well fried donut. The richness of the doughnut itself has to be tasted to be felt, but it really felt way better than any other doughnut store, which will not offer you any doughnuts prepared to such a degree.

Flavour-wise, I find that Krispy Kreme offers a decent range of differently flavoured doughnuts, and my favourites would be the orginal glazed doughnut, chocolate iced glazed and glazed with kreme filling. Being a chocolate fan, I would strongly encourage fellow chocolate fans to try the combination of glazed doughnut together with the rich layer of chocolate, simply heavenly!

If you call yourself a donut lover, you’ll have to try this out

It doesn’t matter what new food trends pop up every few weeks because one thing is for sure. Donuts will always be in trend. And there is nothing more quintessentially donut-y then Krispy Kreme donuts.
Their Original Glazed donut is not only delicious, it is ICONIC. It’s so thoroughly sweet that even a slight sniff of its sugary goodness is enough to bring you to your knees. Other donut outlets have tried to create their own version but they’re often dry and not as flavourful. Definitely not iconic.
If you want to try something different, then go for the Salted Caramel Glazed donut. Salted caramel + sugar glaze = Confectionary magic. It’s all sinfully delicious and at $x for a dozen, it’s definitely worth treating yoself.

I don't know what's up with us Singaporeans going crazy every time some foreign brand opens up a stall here ala Tim Ho Wan. The week Krispy Kreme opened in Singapore, the line was a good 100 metres long!

Come on people, its not THAT good. No donut can possibly be worth queueing more than 30 minutes for. Ok maybe its easy for me to say because I had already tried it once in KL.

That being said, I was quite blown away the first time I ate KK. IMO, only the regular sugar glazed donut lives up to the hype. It looks unassuming at first impressions - a donut with a thin, translucent sugar glaze coating over it. Nothing fancy about it, but damn does it taste good.

Moral of the story: To enjoy it, give it a few months to let the queue die down, and go in with zero expectations.

Given the hype surrounding the opening of Krispy Kreme's outlet in Singapore, I find that the donuts are just a little too overpriced.

The queues are ridiculously long even during off peak hours but I find that KK has adapted well to this huge demand by providing menus along the queue so that you can immediately place your order once its your turn to do so, causing little hassle.

Take nothing away from the doughnuts though for they were the best doughnuts I have ever tasted. The sugar glazed donuts are definitely a treat and though I had half a dozen of them to myself, I could really do with more. I most definitely will get more doughnuts from KK but that will be once the long queues die down.

I first tried Krispy Kreme when my sister brought it home from Bangkok. So when I heard that they were coming to Singapore, I was super excited. But, my excitement died when I heard how long the queue was.

I finally managed to get my original glazed krispy kreme fix a few weeks later when the craze subsided and it didn't disappoint. Maybe it's because I was dying to eat it but I don't get why people say it's not nice...because it really is! I can't say the same for the other flavours because I've not personally tried it and I've heard mixed reviews about them.

Though they're more expensive than your usual neighbourhood bakeries, I think it's worth it.

When Krispy Kreme announced their opening in Singapore, I thought, "This is it. This is the end of skinny people in Singapore." Having tried their donuts overseas, I have since been a fan of Krispy Kreme donuts.

I am an avid donut-lover. Warning though: I pretty much only go for sugar donuts. I've tried the flavoured ones and I personally think only their original is worth the craze. It is practically foodgasm... it's soft and moist and it's like heaven in a bite. I would say that it's really sweet and people who don't have a sweet tooth might hate it.

The donuts are really crazily overpriced though... I love them but it's not gonna be a weekly indulgence though. If you're really crazy over the donuts, you should probably head to Malaysia to get them.

Basically with Krispy Kreme, you either love it or hate it.
