Noticing the potential of this culture being introduced in Singapore, one of Ajisen’s Japanese Chefs got inspired and concocted a tantalizing array of tarts which soon gave birth to Fruit Paradise. A refreshing alternative from calorie-laden cakes and pies, the Fruit Tarts are a healthy assortment of fruit on a mousse base. Made from 3 different bases namely, custard, cheese and chocolate mousse, it expands the line of tarts to more than 12 flavours.
Although the signature dish would be the fruit tarts, the main courses are nothing to scoff at as well. The Curry Omu Rice with Tofu Hamburger was a gastronomical kaleidoscope of flavour and taste, decently blending the unique tastes of Japanese curry, fried rice enveloped in a shroud of egg and the interesting taste of the tofu patty. The texture, colour and graining on the patty is so similar to that of real beef that my Buddhist dining companion shied away from it.
Then we come to the fruit tarts, confections that brim with goodness and health in every pie. The tart portion is well-baked and tasty, containing hints of biscuit along with the usual baking suspects. The dark brown colour is also inviting to the tastebuds as well, since we rapidly sank our teeth into the tarts once our mouths were clear. The fruit tart we tried contained fruit pieces that were fresh, tasty and surprisingly sweet, a refreshing and delectable combination with the savoury nature of the tart.
In all, Fruit Paradise is a must-go if you have a real hankering for some quality fruit tarts.
Brightly coloured fruits were arranged in neat and eye catching designs and pattens, glazed over to give it a polished look.
It tastes as good as it looks.
The crust is crisp-- just how i like it. Between the crusts and the layer of fruits is a mass of creamy delight (or depending on what you order) and believe me when I say the fruits are good. I dont really like the fruit cakes I usually have outside because I find their fruits sometimes tasteless, or the taste is too strong. Like what my mum always says, "artificial".
But the fruits Fruit Paradise uses satisfies your taste buds-- fresh and sweet.
Its on the expensive side though. Once I custom made two cakes-- it costed us a hundred bucks. It'd be cheaper, of course, off the shelf.
Women like pretty things, which such astounding beautiful presentations, half the battle is won. I have tried their strawberry tiramisu tart before and I thought it was pretty good, nothing much to complain about. I wouldn't say its very very good, but just of mediocre standard. The presentation clearly shows effort, passion and hard work being put in, which raises the score I would give them.
Their tart crusts are sufficiently buttery and crispy, even when kept overnight, the crusts do not get soggy, which is something to applaud about. Overall, it is worth trying, though a tad expensive.
Their Chocolate Banana Tart is a culinary stroke of genius. I have never tasted anything more spectacular. Through disastrous cupcake experiences, especially at twelve cupcakes, I have learnt that the prettier it looks, the more likely it's compromising for quality, so looking at the displays scared me instead of tempted me.
I finally settled on chocolate because nothing goes wrong with chocolate. And god was I blessed to have tasted that sweet piece of heaven.
It was just the right amount of crunchy and tasty. The pie at the bottom was a smooth fusion which the smattering of fruits on top, and all these were laced with whipped cream and chocolate enough to make a pastry cry. All that goodness on a pie.
Do not bother looking around Fruit Paradise. Sit down and order 3 at random. They will be the best 3 decisions of your life.
The piled-high fruit tarts are certainly a feast for the eyes. Deciding which one to pick is no easy task: each one looks more tempting than the other! I decided on the berries for the antioxidants (at least that’s what I told myself to justify the sugar craving).
The beverage menu is heavy on the teas, which is just as well because that’s the perfect foil for the kawaii fruit tarts.
There’s also a food menu, but Fruit Paradise wouldn’t be my first choice for a main meal. All tummy space needs to be allocated to dessert here.
I ordered a Blueberry Tart and the tart arrived looking so impeccable. It looks like the tarts that I drool over when I browse through dreamy food pictures on Tumblr. Blueberry was plump and juicy, it looked like mini grapes! It wasn't canned blueberry puree. I was over the moon because I hate the artificial sweet taste of canned puree. What makes it really special is that there is a layer of sponge cake acting as a bed for the fruits to rest on. With some whipped cream. Ah, I fell in love!
Price of falling in love: $6.80
Some might find it expensive to pay $6.80 for a tart. But think about it, would you rather spend lots of small amounts on lousy tarts or just have a good tart? I promise you it wouldn't disappoint. Yes, the taste of fruits can be pretty subjective so I suggest you choose the tart with your favorite fruit. That's half the battle won ;)
The service was great! My order was taken quickly and my tart was served in less than 5 minutes. The store was pretty quiet though on that weekday afternoon. Ideal place for chilling out and relaxing.

Yes the tarts do not come cheap, but then again if you want the best, you have got to be prepared to pay for it. Perhaps its not a stall that you would patronize every now and then. However, it is certainly the place to go when you've had a good day and decided to give yourself a little fruity treat.
Now, I have always supported the use of the freshest ingredients in all foods and dessert and I must say that Fruit Paradise certainly hits the mark. My personal favorite would be the strawberry tart. However, there are also a range of other flavors to suit your taste including mango, kiwi and orange.
I also enjoy the Japanese feel of the place which yells out cleanliness and efficiency. Tired of all the chocolate, cheese and vanilla which can be found almost everywhere? Well, give Fruit Paradise a try. I doubt you'll fail to enjoy what it has to offer.
Ambience at Fruit Paradise is casual, with functional furniture and white wooden colours. Most people opt for takeaway though. If dining in, ask to sit near the kitchen, which is viewable through the open glass. You can watch the chefs carefully stacking the fruit tarts!
Service at Fruit Paradise is as casual as the ambience, which is decent for takeaway, but not so good for dining in. Most Fruit Paradise have staff take your order, and serve it to the table, but payment is at the counter. Don't expect much from the service here.
While Fruit Paradise mainly deals in desserts, they do have a small selection of Japanese curry rice dishes. The main dishes aren't that great, stick to their beautiful fruit tarts instead! While I certainly understand using cream as a technique to hold the fruits together, I do wish they had more fruits instead of cream!
The signature Mixed Fruits tart consists of a crumbly biscuit base and light custard mousse topped with 9 varieties of fresh fruits, including red apple, green apple, mango, orange, grapefruit, kiwi, strawberry, blueberry and banana. The taste is a burst of sour citrus and sweet sugar.
The Nutty Caramel tart has a crumbly biscuit base and salted caramel mousse topped with caramelised macadamia nuts, bananas, strawberry, whipped cream and chocolate. I like how the caramelised nuts add a crunchy, sweet texture to the softness of the salted caramel mousse and bananas.
The moment we walked in, I was instantly mesmerized by the stunning display of enticing colourful fruit tarts, and found myself gravitating towards them. Deciding which one to try was probably one of the toughest decisions of my life! After eons of indecisive pondering and to the amusement of our server, we finally decided on their No. 1 fruit tart and the crepe fruit tart.
The No. 1 fruit tart is kind of heavy with a rich taste, due to the bananas and generous portion of cream, whereas the crepe tart is more refreshing with its fresh fruits. The crepe tart is also like getting the best of both worlds - both tart and crepe in one dessert! Yay! I also liked the tart pastry, which was not overly buttery. However, I admit I was a little disappointed that the taste of the tarts did not match up to their prettiness, but that is probably because the tarts really do look gorgeous.
The staff decorated the plates served with the tarts with drizzles of strawberry jam, so after finishing the tarts, my friend and I ended up drawing on our plates with the leftover jam and fork while chatting. It's is quite fun actually; I would look forward to going back again to just chill around with good company and good desserts.
I had always wanted to try their tarts because they look super yummy! However for an average teen like me $9.80 for a tart (yeah..the did not add the cost for GST & service charges in the prices stated in the menu) is simply costly considering the size of the tart! Anyhow, I marched myself in their outlet at Vivo city and tried their tart for the very first time
First bite it was instant love! the tart tastes so awesome and incredible. Sweetness was just right not too sweet at all. The base of the tart was crispy yet soft. It was the custard that made the tart taste like yummy goodness. Atop the tart was sliced strawberries that is a little sour to compliment the mellow sweetness of the thinly sliced mangoes. It is a must try for people who dislike desserts that are overwhelmed with sweetness.
The size of the tart could have been bigger though..for the price that we are paying. Nevertheless I think that Fruit paradise would make a great place for family & friends to gather and have a nice afternoon tea and would definitely be listed on the list of the "to-go"dessert places!
It's a great place to catch up with a friend over desserts after dinner. The tea offered there adds a nice complement to the tarts. I don't have a favourite tart over there, I generally enjoy all of them. I just wish they'd give a bigger slice each time though!
I patronized the branch at Orchard Central. This concept restaurant specialises in tarts in a variety of flavours. I settled on the Chocolate Banana Tart and to be honest with you, I was very impressed. It has the right level of sweetness and the chunks of banana in the tart complements the chocolate taste very well. The mousse on the tart is also very smooth and delicious.
Service is great and they were very quick to serve iced water and attended to us promptly. The price($7) is quite reasonable as the food is impressive. They also serve pots of tea with different flavours but I do not find it value for money.
I would recommend this for a nice delicious tea or dessert after movies.
You will be enticed by the amazing looking fruit tarts available on the counter and from the pictures as well but have a try at it and you will lose that excitement. I have tried the strawberry tarts and the chocolate banana tarts and both taste normal, something that i would get out of a bakery sold at the housing estates. It is not something to rave about especially for the price you are paying.
Definitely not worth your time, effort and especially money for an ordinary tart.
Once in a while when I crave for sweets or the tarts I would go for a tart or so. Quality defers from branch to branch, I would recommend the tarts from the plaza singapura branch but not the branch at orchard central.
But that slice of pie/cake/custard/fruit does not come cheap. With the cheapest slice costing about $5, its not something that I will go for simply for an afternoon snack. The richness of the slice itself does not allow it to be a snack. It is really a dessert and a decadent one too. Don’t be fooled by the amount of fruits on top. The sweetness of the cake and the custard is enough the make any sweet tooth shiver (or maybe I’m not THAT much of a sweet tooth after all but that’s highly unlikely).
I didn’t get the chance to have it at the cafe itself, but rather, brought home a couple of slices. I placed my slice in the fridge once I reached home and I highly recommend everyone to do that for a take away order. My bf’s mum ate her slice straight away and the sweetness was really intense. I think the heat really magnifies any taste or flavour, so with the custard slightly melted, the slice of fruit tart taste so rich, creamy and overly sweet that we had to put it back to the fridge for the custard to set. It was much better when cold and definitely more enjoyable.
One thing I didn’t like about the cafe was that it was too bright. It’s not that I like dark gloomy restaurants, but I felt that the cafes are always so recognisable because they look like a white patch with a queue from far, and the brightness makes it slightly suffocating.
