If I enter a Four Leaves shop, I will only leave with their cakes. Personally, I feel that their breads are not very good. The donuts I tried are stale and heavy with oil. The breads aren't fragrant. You know, when we pass by a bakery, we'll most probably be over-whelmed with the sweet smell before anything else right? That is the case even for neighbourhood bakeries. But not for Four Leaves.

However, when it comes to cakes I love to buy from them! Out of 5 birthdays cakes I would buy 4 from them. I simply love their cheesecake. Heavy, rich and creamy. Creamy, not milky. Crisp hard base that melts in your mouth, leaving a hint of savoury saltiness that compliments the strong tasting cake. I suggest people buying the individual piece to try first. It cost about $3.

When Four Leaves first introduced the mini breads concept a few years ago, I thought it was pretty creative and for people who have a small appetite, it works well for them. I'm quite pleased to say that almost all their mini bread flavors are tasty and worth trying, but it would be better if they could come up with new flavors every once in a while, and not just modifying their existing bread flavors and making them bite sizes.

Their cakes are worth trying as well, and my favorite is their strawberry sweetheart cake. Not too sweet, and the texture's pretty smooth and soft as well. Their blackforest cake is also a favorite among patrons, and they do well as delicious birthday cakes for your loved ones. A great place for students to buy bread to eat after school as well, as the price is reasonable.

small cakes and breads

Four leaves is one of the better bread shops out there They have a wide variety of selections of small breads and cakes to choose from. I particularly like the brownies which are small but have almonds in quite appropriate amounts. Breads are sold at 3 for $1.95 which makes them cheaper than Breadtalk.

However, the choices of small breads and cakes are limited. After patronizing the shop for a few times, you would have tried all the different types of bread already. Take note that some of the breads have little ingredients in it and you might not get full by eating it. There are some bigger breads that i haven't tried before as it costs more and doesn't seem appealing to me. Cakes are available there too but i haven't tried buying them yet. When you are feeling a little hungry, small bread and cakes from four leaves should help satisfy your cravings.

This bakery is nothing special and very average. Sometimes, the bread can get a little tough. No indication of freshness. The variety of the bread is quite small as compared to other bakeries like BreadTalk. They do sell cakes as well. Steamed cheese cake, green tea cake and so on. I tried the cheese cake once and I thought it was pretty good, considering my expectation of the bakery wasn't very high. The service there can be improved on. The counter staff did not smile nor say thank you. Simply just packaged the cake into the plastic bag and went on to the next customer. Not very nice of them. I tried the Belgian Waffle once as well. Not very nice. Just a plain waffle. It did not had the fluffiness that nice waffles should have as well.

However, I do think that their sandwiches are good to have on-the-go. The sandwiches are mildly refrigerated in a mini cooler and this makes the sandwiches cool and fresh! It's a good idea as opposed to keeping the sandwiches in room-temperature. My mother likes to buy the 5 for $2.95 little buns for us as well. It's convenient if you are looking for an easy breakfast. Taste is not at its best but its decent enough for breakfast. And for the $2.95 price tag, you really can't fault it. All in all, I have other bakeries that I would prefer to go to so I won't be buying from here unless the need arises.

Mix-and-Match!!!!

Craving for a light tea break while window shopping? Whenever I pass by Four leaves, I would have the strong urge to go in and grab something to eat. What’s so great about this small shop that can be found all around Singapore. Well, to me, the best thing about this small shop is its affordable pricing. For a normal student like me, the all-day offer of the mix-and-match mini bread at the price of five for $2.95 is truly tempting. Especially when I’m rushing to school, the bite sized pastry is just what I need to fill my stomach in a short time. It’s not easy to get sick of the pasties as there are quite some choices to choose from.

My all-time favourite is the mini Brownies. It’s chocolaty yet not too sweet. In addition, it’s not too moist and not too dry so it won’t get struck in between my teeth. Beside the brownie, the mini hotdog bun is another favourite choice of mine. Probably because it’s more fulfilling. However, beside the Mix-and-Match offer, there isn’t anything much that interests me. The cakes designs are sort of common. The service is still within the normal range. Maybe I should say that if Four Leave doesn’t have this mix-and-match offer, I might not patronize it that often.
