Absolutely love this bakery. I'm a sucker for bread, therefore I can get really picky when it comes to bakery. Alongside with a few more different bakeries, Barcook reigns as one of my first few bakeries to go to.

Their specialties are definitely the 'wiped-out-in-30min' cream cheese raisin bun! As there aren't many outlets islandwide just yet, I've been hunting for that similar soft fluffy bread that is filled with that cheesy goodness from other stores, but sadly, I have yet to find anything comparable to Barcook's! I'm also quite in love with their Wasabi bun, Potato Cheese and Satay with cucumber bun. They have the quirkiest combinations that one wouldn't really think of, and when you take the risk and try it, you'll be back for more of it.

There is usually a queue during breakfast and lunch time, but the queue disappears pretty fast as the cashiers are really efficient. The buns are so reasonably charged to the extent that you have customers buying 20 at one go! (nope, not kidding about it. i clearly remember it because she took my last raisin cream cheese!!)

I'll definitely recommend this to my friends and families, because Barcook has definitely set the standards for bakeries to follow.

There are just so many buns that I love in Barcook! My mum was the one who started buying buns from Barcook because it was near to her work place and if she arrives early for work, she would head down to Barcook to buy the freshly made buns!

We would usually have them for breakfast. The first bun from Barcook that I tried was the raisin and cheese bun, it was really creamy and thick. However, when I tried my first potato cheese bun, it really tasted like heaven! The potato is very fragrant and mixed with the cheddar cheese, it was a perfect combination! Another of my favourite is the cha siew bun too!

Every now and then, I would beg my mother to head to her office early so that she can buy the buns from Barcook before all gets sold out.

bound to tantalise your tastebuds. initially when the hype was all about Barcook's cream cheese buns, i couldn't understand why. Really. i was thinking "Another hype? It'll just die down, we are overrating again." -rolls eyes-

Then after my mum got me some and when i bit into it, I finally understood. I was glad my virgin taste at a cream cheese bun was so good and memorable. The cream cheese filling was so much that it made the price reasonable for the bun. now i know why the queue's always so long. Being my first time having a cream cheese bun, I initially thought that the buns from other establishments wouldn't be that far off from Barcook's so i went ahead and got one from Breadtalk, expecting the same oozing creamy cheese flowing out. But boy, was i disappointed. No ooze, just air. Then did i realised how big the difference in quality from the two bread joints.

Just got my weekly fix of the delicious raisin cream cheese buns at their flagship location, The Central.

For barcook virgins, I seriously recommend lurking around the area and coming back when a new batch arrives - this may seem like quite a wait, but really, even the freshly made buns usually get wiped out in 30 minutes, tops. much less the ones out in the open. Nothing comes close to feeling the HOT (let this be my only warning to you, haha) and rich cream cheese oozing from the bun once you take a bite - it's the perfect combination of sweet and salty flavours, that can rival any salted caramel creation.

However, it's with no pleasure that i say the rest of the offerings aren't all that spectacular. Of course, the worst of Barcook are still better than the generic BREAD-droids that can TALK, if you get what i mean.

Try them today! x

When I was working in Raffles Place, I used to frequent this bakery at OUB Plaza. I used to have to wait for specific timings for certain buns. One bun not to be missed is the Potato Nachos Bun. The bun has the same soft texture as the Raisin Cream bun, but the top is glazed with egg white and of course the inside is filled with the heavenly goodness of cheese and mashed potatoes. It's so good when eaten hot!! The signature bun, Raisin Cream is always available at the counter. It's not only good when it's hot, but it's also good when chilled! The cream cheese doesn't harden when it's chilled and it tastes very much like cheesecake! Try this bakery if you haven't!

I frequent this bakery pretty often, and i will keep going back there as long as they serve their Raisin Cream Cheese bun. This native bakery perfected the art of baking and it has a wide range of delectables to offer. My all-time favourite is the afore mentioned Raisin Cream Cheese but coming in at a close second is also the Mixberry Cheese! Their cakes are fantastic as well, and the Passion Mango is ranked first on my list!

Soft enough to melt through my fingers when I held it, and still smelled fresh even after being out of the oven for a few hours. The bakery in Eu Tong Seng is a contrast to the shops situated in the same complex as it. A western concept bakery amidst Chinese shops and a hawker centre, Barcook was gaining a queue of customers in the early afternoon.

The Mexi Cheez was sold out and the next batch was still cooking when I was there. I settled for Raisin Cream Cheese instead but did not see any German muesli loaf. Good things comes in small quantities.

So soft was the bun, I felt I was eating cotton candy floss without sugar and it was on my second bite that I tasted silky smooth cream. The cream oozed slowly out of the chewed portion and smelled faintly of raisins. It was an unforgettable experience, eating such a fascinating item. I brought 6 in one go.

Soft and fluffy cream bun

I hardly understood the hype about this bakery, to me bread will always be just bread, how good can it get? I finally understood when I decided one day to join the snaking queue for a famous raisin cream cheese bun. After almost 20 mins of queuing, I felt strangely victorious as I laid hands on my first coveted cream cheese bun. Mind-blowingly delicious molten, creamy cream cheese oozed out of the cottony soft and fluffy bread as I bit into it, the juicy raisins also gave it a sweet contrast. The light dough of the soft buns gave the bread a fluffy nature distinguishing it from normal bread. At a dollar plus per bun, this is one indulgence that will not burn a hole in your pocket, so I could see why many are willing to stand in line. My advice is for you to eat them fresh when it is just out of the oven to enjoy the most out of this gastronomic experience, when the bun is still as soft and as plump as a pillow and the cheese, delectably oozy and scorching hot. Don’t say you were not warned if you take it home and discover that it has deflated and become cold.

One of my favourite bakeries which I frequent would be Barcook Bakery. Located beside OG Albert, this made it even convenient for me for my school is nearby. I often spotted long queues during meal times and in the late afternoon. Their bread and loaves are baked freshly daily, there is no way we will expect Barcook Bakery to serve their customers non fresh bread.

I have tried almost everything from Barcook Bakery, ranging from their loaves to their cakes. Still, their Raisin Cream Cheese ranked the best in my list, after trying similar ones from other bakeries. The cheese contained inside the bread burst into my taste buds upon my initial bite. There is definitely more than enough cheese than the others and the texture of the bread is just nice- not too soft, not too hard. This is definitely a must-try for those who have not come across Barcook Bakery, though this series of bread runs out extremely fast. There are glass panels where you can watch the bakers in action.

The pricing wise, I think it is rather reasonable. If I’m not wrong, the Raisin Cream Cheese costs me $1.50 per piece.
