I'm not an extreme fan of foreign cuisine, so when I was first dragged along by my family to Nakhon Kitchen, I was quite hesitant. After trying the food, I soon realised my apprehension was for nought - the food is pretty good. I never expected myself to fully embrace foreign cuisines until trying the food here. Honestly, I'm not sure how authentic they are as Thai cuisines. After all, cultures get commoditised over time. All I can say is that if authentic Thai food tastes like what I've eaten, I'd be a fan of Thai food.

My family ordered pineapple rice, honey chicken, Tom Yum soup, braised toufu, sambal kang kong and mango sticky rice, all of which do not have a distinct taste that is different from our local offerings, at least not that I can distinguish. That said, they are really good and I enjoy them. Considering that other Thai restaurants are much more expensive and have less savoury offerings, Nakhon Kitchen has my vote for the value for money.

As for service, it is a different story. The service is mediocre at best - waiting times for requests, food and our table are long and service crews have a perpetual frown on their faces. There's an apparent shortage of workers and I can empathise with the existing workers doing their best to make up for the shortage. All in all, I recommend Nakhon Kitchen for those who can put up with substandard service for good food at compelling prices, like myself. Otherwise, you're better off eating elsewhere.

Nakhon Kitchen, which started its first outlet at Kovan, has grown in popularity over the last few years. Staying around the same area, I have tried the food there for 3 times on different occasions. I can vouch that the standard of the food has remained consistent.

The must-tries at Nakhon Kitchen are: Pandan Leaf Chicken, Tom Yam Soup and Fried pork with garlic. The Pandan Leaf Chicken is a good appetizer to start your meal with; the chicken meat is still succulent despite it being barbequed and has that subtle Pandan fragrance. The Tom Yam Soup has the sweetness that is quite close to what you will taste if you were to taste original Thai food. However, it can be a bit too spicy. If you want to go for a milder option, you can also order the Tom Ka Soup (Tom yam soup with coconut milk).

One type of food to avoid at Nakhon Kitchen is their Thai Curry. I have tried all their different types of curry, such as Green Curry and Jungle Curry. I must say that their curry have been disappointing. They either taste too bland, like the Green Curry, or they taste too spicy such that the whole taste of the curry is lost, just like the Jungle Curry.

Those looking for dessert at Nakhon can try their Red Ruby. It is not too sweet and is a good option to conclude your meal with.

In any discussion about where to find the best Thai food in Singapore, Nakhon Kitchen always comes up. Having built their reputation for serving tasty, authentic Thai dishes with fresh ingredients at reasonably low prices, Nakhon Kitchen commands a constant queue of diners waiting to get in on a daily basis.

Ambience at Nakhon Kitchen is simple, rustic, and functional. People don't come here for ambience after all... They come for the food. However, I do like that they provide complimentary tissue paper (toilet rolls actually) on every table. Decor is minimal, though suitably Thai inspired. Prepare for a slightly warm, noisy dining environment.

Service at Nakhon Kitchen is brusque but efficient. Don't expect to get much conversation out of the staff. As most of the staff are Thai, expect to converse in either English or Thai with them. Because this place is constantly packed, expect to wait about 10 - 15 minutes for your food, even after being seated. And to be seated, you'll first have to queue for about 20 - 30 minutes. This 'queue to get in' is actually part of Nakhon Kitchen marketing strategy, purposefully implemented by the owners.

Food at Nakhon Kitchen is fantastic, with authentic Thai flavours. Expect each dish to have the Thai combination of sweet, salty, spicy and sour flavours, fresh ingredients, and great taste. Some dishes though, are simply much better than others. However, presentation of most dishes is rather lacking. I also like that prices are reasonably cheap here as compared to other Thai restaurants.

Overall, Nakhon Kitchen is an excellent place for Thai food. But I personally feel that sometimes, it is over hyped. While I don't mind waiting up to 30 minutes for the food, anything longer isn't worth the time and effort. If you really must dine at Nakhon Kitchen, I would recommend visiting just before they open (11.40am or 5.10pm), or way after the normal dining hours (2.30pm or 9.30pm).

Just a stone throw away from Kovan MRT station is this hidden find of authentic and spicy Thai food. It is one of the best thai food i have ever eaten and the prices are defintely reasonable. The must orders include tom yum soup, pandan chicken, and phad thai! However, the portions are relatively meagre so it is encouraged for at least 2 dish 1 soup for 2 pax. But for the good taste and price, i wont complain at all!

Nakhon kitchen is relatively small so it may accomodate only about 10 tables at a time. Queues will start forming from 6.30pm so please come earlier if you do not wish to wait

Long queue!! But delicious food

So the first time at Nakhon kitchen was a rally pleasant surprise because of its mouth-watering food and great staff! To me the tom yam soup is the bet because it is really clear, spur and spicy at he same time, but he taste is just right. The price is reasonable for the portion and quality.

However, the place is usually packed with customers and te queue is always really long. Usually, the queue can extend along the whole length of the walkway! Although the queue is long, it is actually worth the wait. So if you are looking for delicious Thai cuisine at an affordable price, Nakhon kitchen is definitely the place for you, but be sure to place a reservation before hand if ou hate to wait!

Nakhon is pretty affordable considering it's counterparts located in shopping malls and in town. The food isn't the -blow-you-away-amazing that some people put it to be, but it's definitely above average. And considering the price you pay it really isn't that bad.

My family loves Thai food so we were really excited to give this place a try. However the queue is incredibly long so I suggest that you go on a weekday to try and avoid the queue. We ordered a serving of green curry and when it arrived the aromas were absolutely captivating. My parents loved it so much they ordered a second set! And my siblings and I were all volunteering to help them finish the second one so I definitely recommend giving the green curry a try!

Worth the queue
Overall Score

I went to Nakhon Kitchen for a family dinner with my relatives, and the one thing that struck me when I arrived was the ridiculously long queue. Housed in the heartlands, Nakhon Kitchen serves a wide array of Thai food, and there always seems to be a queue for the restaurant, even on weekdays, a good indication of the quality of this restaurant.

The food at Nakhon Kitchen is above average, and the prices are relatively cheap, compared to other Thai restaurants.

One of the most memorable dishes would be the honey chicken, which is sweet and tender, and goes well with white rice. Another dish to try would be the Pandan Leaves Chicken, in which chicken pieces are wrapped in pandan leaves then cooked, lending the chicken a nice aroma when unwrapped.

However, the portions of the dishes served at Nakhon Kitchen can be dreadfully small, so I would recommend customers to either get two sets of the same dish or order a greater variety of dishes.

The service at Nakhon Kitchen is efficient as well, and the staff tries their best to serve the food up as quickly as possible (you can actually see their effort from their sweat-stained shirts).

Nakhon Kitchen has never disappointed me, with both its good service and delicious food. If you're keen on having a satiating Thai meal, Nakhon Kitchen is a must-try.

Although the Thai food served here is generally cheap and affordable, I find that they can definitely do better with the taste of their food. Perhaps they were good at one point of time, but nowadays I've begun to hear more than a few grumbles about the food.

I ordered their Tom Yam soup and the Olive Fried Rice. My order came within minutes and the food was served piping hot, which was great. My fried rice was disappointingly plain and tasteless, very unlike a Thai eatery. But the Tom Yam Soup was awesome! Spicy and sour, with a fiery spiciness, I loved it! I'm definitely going back there for the Tom Yam Soup again!

The stall that i tried was located nearby bedok north ave 3 blk 136. Nearby is a coffee shop and across the road another muslim coffee shop.

Look into bedok central and there is a thai chinese restaurant located near the bedok central macdonald where NTUC's happy days are located upstairs. Hence you dont find any other thai restaurant in bedok. In that sense it seems like a monopoly in bedok.

The fried fish is just average cos it is not that fresh. The minced pork with basil are far too spicy and in small portion. Pandan leave chicken taste the same as other thai restaurant. The soup, I hope they really make it themselves. Cos i bought a tom yam paste and another tom yam herbal packets from bangkok and they taste quite similiar.

Nonethless the crowd are there due to residents who wanted a change of food from the usual chinese food with quite good value and yet did not want to afford the more pricey range located in bedok central. Hence i can only say they have hit a good fengshui position.

Everytime I go past Nakhon Kitchen at Kovan in the evening to night, I always see a long stretch of people patiently waiting for their turn to be seated. In fact, I've been seeing this as far as I remember it opening there. This is pretty much the reason why I had to try the food there some time ago.

During the time I visited Nakhon Kitchen with a group of friends, the queue was as long as I've always seen, but it wasn't a slow queue. The staff were nice enough to show us their menu and we took our time to decide what to eat. Our orders were then taken in the queue to reduce waiting time later on.

When we were finally seated, the food came quickly, dish by dish. Food was good overall, and among all the different dishes we ordered, the best item I ate that time was their leaf wrapped chicken. Although the unwrapping can be a little messy, the chicken is so delicious! For future visits, this item will be in my must-have list!

I highly recommend this to people who love Thai food. Nakhon will not fail to serve you delicious authentic Thai food. The only thing you have to endure would be the queue, so go early if you don't wanna wait!
