Before I even patronised Pasta De Waraku I already had an impression formed in my head: The diverse range of delicious pasta display on brighlt lighted glass walls. As a kid I used to scrutinize the displays, wondering if they were fake or real, and until today, I still can't tell.Very effective visual merchandising i must say!

I have tried the two signature dishes, Carbonara and Squid Ink pasta. I loved the Carbonara. It was creamy yet light, and the bacon was in generous portions! At the age of 12, it was the first time i ate runny eggs besides those that came with Kaya toasts! Right now, even as i feel guilty about gulping high cholesterol yolk, it's always an exception for Pasta De Waraku's Carbonara.

The Squid Ink pasta looked horrendously disturbing. "What on earth is that black gooey mash doing on plate?!?" That was my first impression. The taste was surprisingly (and luckily) not as bad as it looks, and had a unique seafood-like flavour. However, the fact remains that I am extremely judgemental about the appearance of food, and hence I am never gonna order that again. (you should try it if you haven't though!)

The first time I passed by Paste de Waraku, I was attracted to the unique menu that the display on the restaurant windows. Unlike other restaurants, the unique menu portray the real thing that customers are going to get when they order.

My dining experience was good, with friendly staff and quick service that they provided. I ordered lunch set menu and within minutes, the food was delivered to me.

As far as I remembered, the chicken that I ordered was crispy and tender on the inside. I would not mind eating the same thing again but I would still love to try other dishes that they offer.

The price was reasonable, I spent less than $15 on the lunch set and considering the service and food  that they provide, it is quite a good lunch deal.

However, one drawback might be the location. It's located at Square 2 at Novena and many people might not be too familiar with this place. It will be great if there are more outlets opened for this restaurant so that more people will be able to taste the Japanese Cuisines from Pasta de Waraku.

I would suggest anyone who wants to try this restaurant to slide peak hours such as lunch and dinner hours. The restaurant would usually be packed and you may have to wait for some time.  2 pm might be a good timing to dine in for lunch as the crowd would then have reduced.

Food are definitely worth its value

I had the opportunity to try Waraku once during a casual dinner date with a friend last year.
Granted that the prices are not really that cheap (but reasonable), the food are definitely worth its value. I love the wide variety of menu items that they have in store. (It ranges from spaghetti, baked rice, pizzas to even side dishes that will have you salivate.)

The illustrations looked good, as well as the real deal.
The ambience of the restaurant is peaceful and I totally enjoyed my experience there! I guess both my friend and I stayed for more than an hour there, chatting and absolutely having a great time while having our meals. It's one of those places where you can make yourself at home.

Do not ever underestimate the size portion of their servings - They are actually bigger than you expect! I was actually feeling quite full after eating 60% of it.
We had the small Japanese pizza as well, and it tasted suprisingly great. It was crispy and tackled my taste buds.
I will definitely patronize again and probably introduce to more of my friends who are into Japanese-style meals as well. You'll be spoilt for choice once you get your hands on their menu!

Unique Cuisine!

At Pasta de Waraku, you will be spoilt for choices with dishes that mix both Western and Japanese cuisine, and a very good mix at that! The dishes are relatively reasonably priced, and the only flaw is the misleading pictures of the dessert. Cakes are not as ‘large’ as they seem in the pictures, and are pretty overpriced given the size of the cakes. When I ordered my cake, it was about half or three times smaller than I had expected it to be, judging from the picture in the menu. Nevertheless, they sure are mouth-watering desserts!

My favourite range would be the soupy pasta range, simply because it is not as dry as the normal pasta dishes like Bolognese or aglio olio, yet still has the pasta-y taste in the soup. Their drinks are commendable too, with both a wide variety and will definitely do more than just quench your thirst!

The quality of service is definitely not a problem, since it is efficient and good.

I would definitely recommend Pasta de Waraku for those who are looking for something new to try, yet without burning a hole in your pocket! It has a nice and comfortable ambience, and is suitable for everyone, including families and couples.

I love pasta and when I first tried pasta at Pasta de Waraku, I was hooked. My friend introduced this restaurant to me at Heeren. The setting and atmosphere is nice. As we were there on a weekday night, it was very quiet and we were the second customers. Sadly, this outlet’s lease has expired and since closed down.

The menu presentation is very nice and appealing. There is a wide range of pasta with different sauces available. There is also a section of soup pasta. Besides pasta, there is also rice and pizza. After the meal, one can also get dessert to complete the meal.

As all the pasta looked very appealing, I simply could not decide which to get! Then, I chanced upon their set menu which includes two half pasta, complete with salad and soup which allows me to make two selections. My friend picked the set with gratin. I decided to get the spicy prawn carbonara pasta with yolk and the littleneck clams pasta soup.

The spicy prawn carbonara pasta with yolk was just perfect. It was not really spicy but the sauce was very unique, it was of an orange hue. It was really delicious. The pasta was of the right texture and bounciness and the egg just completes it. The soup pasta was not bad too but the soup was a little salty.

I would definitely go back again to try out the other pasta and food available.

Pasta de Waraku offers one of the best quality pastas that is found in Singapore. With a wide variety of different flavour pastas to choose from, it is able to suit the taste of most customers. The texture of their pasta has a tinge of bounciness and the flavouring they used to cook the pasta is also of top quality.

I have been there several times, trying different flavours pasta each time! And of those I tried, all taste as good and I would not mind eating them again. One of the best flavoured and I like most is their Beef Hamburger pasta. The sauce they used to cook is really unique and it tastes simply awesome!

Besides selling pastas, the store also sells very mouthwatering fried rice such as the curry-flavoured fried rice and tomato-flavoured fried rice. The rice they used has a springy texture and it tastes delicious.

The best part of all and the most value for money is the pasta set they offer where you are served with drinks, soup, salad, a pasta of your choice and either a pizza/gratin, where one can be very filling after eating this set.

This will be the right place if you are looking for delicious and nice pastas!

At times when I feel like spending a little more than I usually do on a meal, Pasta de Waraku would be one of the first few places to pop up in my mind. I've been of a fan of this restaurant since 2008 when I first visited the outlet at Changi Airport.

Although I really like their classic flavours like Bolognaise or Carbonara, my most favourite choice would be their chicken and egg soup spaghetti! I originally tried this dish out of curiousity to know how it tastes like. There is a very Japanese-feel to the dish based on the flavour of the soup, and it kind of feels like I am eating ramen, except that I find that this tastes BETTER. I only wish this dish could be part of a lunch or dinner promotion menu, because when I last visited this place with my family, we ended up ordering from the set lunch menu (because it's cheaper of course), and I will eventually have to eat from the set lunch menu because the portion is quite heavy (sharing is caring, haha).

For the set lunch, they have a few choices of combinations, such as spaghetti bolognaise and fish and chips, or carbonara and ribeye steak. In my opinion, their non-spaghetti dishes taste pretty mediocre, so I would prefer to just order the spaghetti from the a-la carte menu in future, and some of my family members even agreed with me on this!

Comfort food for me

The staples when I visit Pasta De Waraku are: the Corn soup and the Pasta Carbonara.

The Corn soup is served in an interesting tall bowl with a really wide mouth and small base. They provide you with a small metal soup ladle to eat it better with. I like the part where they stir in the milk halfway for you and you can still see circles of it from the surface of the soup. They are very generous with the corn kernels too. The Carbonara is fabulous. Pasta perfectly done al dente, creamy carbonara sauce with strips of smoked bacon and a half cooked egg on top of it. When you mix it all up, every strand of pasta is too precious to waste. I normally use a fork and the soup ladle to eat my pasta because every mouthful is just so good. Wash it all down with a cup of hot green tea and I'll be well satisfied for the day.

With their affordable price range, I would say that there is definitely something for everyone's tastebuds!

When Pasta de Waraku first opened in Singapore, I got to know about it from the flyers being distributed by the staff with discount coupons attached. At 50% off most dishes, I couldn't help but walk past to take a look. I was instantly attracted by the window display of their dishes, especially by the ice-creams and desserts which look so deliciously yummy!

My first order of their carbonara pasta did not disappoint me, and soon I found myself using up nearly all the 50% coupons on the flyer and trying out each of the pastas and pizzas.

I continue visiting their outlets for the half sets which consist of 2 half-sized mains, soup or salad and drink. Their set lunches are value for money too. Thinking about it now, I'm getting hungry!

To be honest, my first reaction upon seeing their large display of pastas was.. to drop my jaw. Yes really. I got so excited just looking at the variety! Everyone loves to have choices, right?

With that many pastas, there's sure to be something for everyone; even vegetarian selects which I'm exceptionally thankful for. I'm not able to eat meat for a period now due to health issues and I crave for so many different kinds of food yet aren't able to eat them because they might be too "indigestible" for me.

Therefore when I came across Waraku, I was just keeling over in excitement! Finally, pastas without meat and the best part is that they taste just as good! I love their Avocado cream pasta, one of my favorites right now.

Their drinks are also much loved- the Matcha Vanilla (Matcha with Vanilla ice cream). That has got to be the best combination.

The wait for your dishes to be served could get a little lengthy though, probably because they have to source for the ingredients. Too many fridges to contain everything? Hahaha!
