To find a restaurant which supplies both choice and quality for vegetarians is hard enough, but to find one which caters only to vegetarians and vegans and happens to be among Singapore's best restaurants seems more like a fantasy than an actuality. Not so at Original Sin. Named for Michelangelo's famous Sistine Chapel fresco, this sibling eatery of the much loved Michelangelo's is also located in the appealing district of Holland Village.
I had an eggplant and tomato "lasagne" (I cannot remember the fancy name for it, but upon Googling, it seems to be called "Moussaka"?). This dish was so creamy and rich and it did not felt like I was eating vegetables only. The flavors were bursting! This vegetarian dish certainly felt hearty and healthy at the same time. The paprika sprinkled above also provided this extra kick. My aunt had this Risotto which did not look like our conventional Risotto. It was a risotto patty thingy and it was so good. Presentation of the food was classy as well. Really, I have nothing but praises for this place! I used to think Vegetarian food was yucky and consists of nothing but salad, vegetable medley and what not but Original Sin changed my view of Vegetarian food.
We spent close to $70 for 2 person for 2 main dishes and 2 drinks. It is definitely not cheap especially if you were to think that you are just having vegetables but trust me, it is worth the $70! I would not ditch my meat to become a Vegetarian yet but I would certainly be back here again to try the other dishes. Highly recommend to both Vegetarians and Non-Vegetarians. You will enjoy your food here!
I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't miss my meat one bit. I was in a large group of about 15 friends so we ordered many different dishes to share and everything was delectable. The pasta is served in large helpings with the most delicious sauces. The lasagne is creamy and their tomato sauce is really fresh.
I recommmend Original Sin to anyone and everyone, give it a try!
