The best thing about food is that when you least expected it, it can turn your world around. I was in the bus and have missed my stop due to a very tiring day and when I recovered my senses, I was a few stops away and at Bukit Timah Plaza. I immediately alighted and being hungry as it is after work, I proceeded into Bukit Timah Plaza to find a simple meal and wanted to head home after.

I was extremely upset when I found out that the food court which used to operate at the basement of Bukit Timah Plaza has been changed to NTUC fairprice and it was by chance I saw the big ad hung from the ceiling of the shopping mall. It was Saizeriya and being enticed by the price, I decided to give it a shot. Best decision I've ever made.

I ordered the Risotto and was amazingly surprised as it is a taste of paradise and turned my world around. It was cooked with such care that it felt like home-cooked food (even though i'm not an Italian) but clearly it was cooked with care and every single grain of rice can be seen and the stew is not overpowering or starchy like most Risotto I've tasted. Nothing could spoil my day or mood from that point onward and this became my "happy meal" which I shared with my mummy on Mother's Day.

The few things is a definite must-try beside the Risotto is also the Escargot which is baked snail in butter and garlic. The description sounds disgusting but it was an extremely delectable meal and will visit this place solely for this only.

I have been to both Bukit Timah Plaza and City Square Mall and have to say that food standards does not vary much between these two. City Square Mall has to fix their ice machine promptly if they are to entice people with their freee-flow drinks optional top-up as their fountain drinks are lukewarm.

Besides all of these, there is really nothing to nip-pick. For those who love nett price food places rejoice! this place does not have any service charge attached and the food prices are nett. So do check it out and if you wish treat me to a meal there.

I was just there for dinner yesterday. We chanced upon it while we were taking a stroll in the mall. It was probably the only store/outlet in Liang Court that had many patrons! I'm not sure if it was meant to be eaten this way, but the Garlic Butter Focaccia dipped in Mushroom soup was the perfect combination for appetizers!

I had a satisfying meal that concluded with an alcoholic beverages which was also very reasonably priced. Perfect place for the hungry-grumpy ones as the food is served real quick too!

Thumbs up!

If you are low on budget but still wish to have a sumptuous meal, Saizeriya is the place to go.

One of my favourite haunts of all time, Saizeriya mixes a winning formula of low-cost food, a conducive ambience along with a robust menu to tantalize taste buds and keep customers coming back for more. Best enjoyed with a medium-sized group of friends, the restaurant is conveniently located in a number of places, with the City Square Mall and Liang Court branches most favoured.

If there is one thing you have to try at Saizeriya, it would have to be the Escargots, priced at a low, low price of S$5.90 for six snails. Of course, they would not taste like the ones which cost S$60 a pop, but for the price, you get consistent and decent quality. Tender and soaked in a flavourful sauce, the escargots simply slide down your throat and dissolve satisfyingly into your belly.

Within the extensive menu, the pastas and pizzas are true delights. Coming in servings that is proportionately more than the prices you pay for them, the Bacon Spaghetti and Bacon Pizza are definite must-tries for lovers of the streaked meat. Generously slathered within the noodles and in the pizza, each bite guarantees an explosion of taste, albeit a little greasy and at times, messy.

Lastly, the drink bar option is a godsend for friends looking for a nice place to chill after a heavy meal. Be warned though, the place fills up quickly during the usual peak hours, so heading down earlier will increase your chances of securing a bigger table.

Saizeriya is one of the places in Singapore which is truly cheap and good.

Good and cheap food are a rare find these days with escalating prices in the economy, this is even more so for the more exotic cuisine in Singapore. Therefore, it came as a pleasant surprise to me when I chanced upon the Saizeriya Italian Restaurant located in City Square Mall. Being a huge fan of anything Italian, I knew I had to try it out, and when I saw the prices, I could not stop beaming. $5.90 for half a dozen escargots, $7.90 for pizza, $4.40 for gratin and yeah you get the point. The best part is, there is no GST or service charge on top of the menu prices!

Wanting to try the more 'exotic' food, I had the genovese spaghetti which is something like a vegetarian pasta. Truth to be told, it tasted like pasta with blended vegetables sauce. All I can say is that it is an acquired taste.

It was not insanely crowded despite it being lunchtime and between 2-5pm there is the free-flow drinks option at $1.50 instead of the usual price. Service was prompt enough, there is a little call button to catch the attention of the friendly waiters. Definitely a great spot for a casual lunch or dinner venue with family and friends.

I would most definitely go back there again.

Our conception of 'Italian cuisine are too expensive' is now proved wrong. Now you don't have to visit an expensive Italian restaurant to taste great Italian cuisine! Saizeriya is definitely in my top lists of favourite restaurant ever since I visited it a few months ago.

It is hard to believe that there is an Italian restaurant that serves budget meals without the addition of GST and service charge. Furthermore, they offer set promotions where by topping up with a certain amount, you can enjoy free flow drinks too. Their plain water is full of charge (perfect for typical Singaporeans) too so you can take as many cups as you want to.

I personally love their baked rice/pasta as the creamy white sauce with cheese is just amazing. The cheese is not too cheesy like the usual baked rice/pasta. They have added special meat sauce in some of the dishes too so make sure you keep a lookout while flipping through the menu.

However, I was a little disappointed with their pasta as it was too dry for my liking. Different people have different food liking so if you like dry pasta, why not give it a try?

Instead of raising your hands to wait for the waiter, there is a special button on the table which you can press and the waiters will be alerted that your table requests service. I like this innovation a lot as it is convenient and time-consuming. During peak hours, busy waiters might not notice your raised hands if you are sitting at an unfavorable spot.

Being a student on budget, this is one of my top picks for an enjoyable meal.
