The Bungy Bar
If you are looking for a place to hangout with friends where the food is great and the drinks divine, head on down to the Bungy Bar. Located at a prominent corner of Clarke Quay, Bungy Bar is easy to spot given that Singapore’s only reverse bungy towers adjacent to it. Party music that will have you gyrating on your seats are played all night, creating a casual and laidback atmosphere that is ideal for hearty conversations peppered with ruptures of boisterous laughters. Lounge alfresco as you soak in the serenity of the calm river flow, occasionally marred only by the screams of unsuspecting youths who are there for a little scare.
Another big draw of this bar is the live singing. The first time I truly took note of this bar was hearing a mellifluous voice, accompanied by the gentle chords of a guitar of a girl perched on a stool by the small area of a performing stage. I had to drag my friends in and order myself a Cosmopolitan drink, absorbing not only the alcohol but the melodious music into my system as well.
On the weekdays, the Bungy Bar houses a clientele of people in suits out to relax and take a break from work. Here, ties are loosened, hair is undone, and people let loose and simply, chill. You can enjoy a pint of beer whilst sitting atop a wooden barrel indicative of a chair, people watch, and even meet new people if you are up for it.
However, for the previous occasions when I passed by The Bungee Bar, the live singers were always absent. I do hope it was just my bad luck to miss them on those particular days, because it was the live singing that drew me to the bar in the first place.
