The Esplanade is my favourite arts venue in Singapore. I used to be in my school’s symphonic band and hence, was constantly updated on and going for the classical concerts held here. I find the theatre acoustics here to be top-notch.

Another great thing about this place is how accessible it is. It is actually connected to City Hall MRT by an air-conditioned underground walkway via CityLink Mall! This means that even when it is raining, there will be no problems getting to The Esplanade safe and dry.

I am not too sure about other arts events held at The Esplanade other than classical concerts, but would like to check them out in the future as well. And also the library here that I’ve heard so much about, can’t wait to check it out for myself!

The perfect place to immerse yourself in the Arts

I've been to Esplanade a couple of times, and it never fails to surprise me every single time. There are always new things up for display that intrigues your imagination and inspires you. For those who are passionate for the arts, this place is definitely where you should visit to get some inspiration for your next artwork, music composition or dance choreography. I especially like to visit the rooftop to take a short break from my hectic lifestyle. With the amazing view of the architecture in Singapore, I often can't help but take tons of pictures though I'm not a tourist.

Being a music enthusiast, I believe the Esplanade library has proven itself to be a useful avenue for me to collect information regarding music, as well as borrow music scores that I have difficulty finding elsewhere. I was also pleasantly surprised yesterday when I visited the library because there was a violin performance going on which I did not know about. I definitely enjoyed the performance and I hope more such events will be put up!

I love the arts. The Esplanade - or the two durians - is possibly the pinnacle of the fledgling arts scene in Singapore. From piano performances by the up-and-coming musicians in Singapore, to Tony Award winning musicals, in my opinion, it is the best place for someone who knows how to appreciate the finer points of society to head to for a great evening.

Although the Marina Bay Sands Theatre has recently usurped it's place as the premium showplace in our nation, I still feel that the Esplanade has more history behind it, as well as better seats (in my opinion). Not to mention, it is extremely easy to get to; it is located right smack in the middle of Singapore!

I do not like durians, but this is one durian is really worth admiring and enjoying without being eaten! The Esplanade is a place whereby Singaporeans and tourists alike would typically go to for concerts and stage performances, be it professional or just a school production (some of which can be REALLY impressive!).

Gone are the days when I'd always hear people promoting their performances as such: "Come support us at Victoria Concert Hall!" Today, most productions and performances almost always are to be held at the Esplanade, unless the concert is big-scale (like major celebrity concerts such as SM TOWN, yes I had to say this hehehe), and I am not really surprised at all!

First of all, the Esplanade is easier to access than most other concert halls like VCH and Singapore Conference Hall. Secondly, the interior and concert halls look more grand and modern compared to those places. At the Esplanade, you'd definitely wanna stick around and explore the place and shops within, whereas at the other places I mentioned, there's nothing much to stay around for after your concert.

Even if you aren't expecting a concert any time soon to attend at the Esplanade, you can always make a trip down to just check the place out, it will be worth your time, especially if you are a budding photographer like me as this place has interesting things to shoot inside and out!

I love heading to the Esplanade for various reasons. To be honest, i haven't caught a show or a performance at the theatres yet, but it's definitely on my to-do list!

The library here is wonderful, with a sitting area filled with soft and comfortable couches facing the Marina Bay. It is also more of an artistic library with it's collection leaning towards the visual and written arts.

The rooftop garden here is simply marvelous, with lots of people visiting to take scenic pictures of the views available. With an unblocked view of the entire bay area, this place is one of my favourites to snap pictures of sunsets.

I hope this place never loses it's lustre and calmness, it would be a shame if that happened.

This place is just wonderful, even when you're doing nothing sitting by the river overlooking the tall buildings. It's amazing how the view changes every year, from just the Merlion to so many iconic attractions like Singapore Flyer and MBS.

Once in a while i'll be at the Esplanade to catch plays and stand-up comedies.

I really like this place as there's so much to do. A huge library with a jamming studio and even a screeming room!

After catching plays i can just go up to Orgo at the rooftop for a good drink. Rooftop bars aren't exactly common in Singapore, so it's definitely a place to check out.

The esplanade is one of my favorite place in Singapore!

You would probably want to know what I mean by 'escape' in the title, right? So let me brief you a little about why I chose to call Esplanade just that.

Years ago, I remember one of my Secondary school post exam activities was going to Esplanade to watch 'Dim Sum Dollies' and basically, I had a blast of my time laughing till my stomach aches. We all know that Esplanade houses many theatrical show and not only that, musical performance too.

Solo guitarist or singers own the stage and sang to their hearts' content, while people simply enjoy the ambient environment there. Don't be surprised to see many students studying there, you can't blame them for being attracted to study in such a conducive surrounding where classy music and peace is king. Definitely a must-go place, or else you have not lived life of a Singaporean.

Esplanade Theatres on the Bay has become a famous landmark not only on the Singapore map but also on the world map due to the state-of-the-art design and world-renowned performances it hosts. Besides the musical and dance festivals it holds, Esplanade also attracts locals and tourists who frequent the place for the dining experience it offers. One can treat their eyes to the many exhibitions they have or simply take a walk down the bay and soak in the breathtaking view of central Singapore.

The building also houses a library dedicated to music and other arts. You can also escape to the terrace to get a better view of the Singapore skyline.

The Esplanade is a great place to catch music and theatre events in Singapore. It has comfortable seats in its halls and studio, as well as excellent acoustics to boot. Only trouble is, it happens to host many pop and rock concerts in its main halls. When the singers try to cajole the audience into getting up to dance with them, it's a bit hard to do so. If you're not a die-hard fan, you probably want to think twice about catching a band's concert there.

I wouldn't be too enthusiastic about the outdoor events, though. What they call a "stage" near the riverfront looks rather tiny, and the seating area is very small. It's even smaller than my junior college's school amphitheatre! As a host to frequent music events and concerts, the Esplanade should have thought about constructing a larger seating area to accommodate the crowds who come to participate.

Dining options are plenty although they are on the expensive side. The cheapest you can get is crossing to the Gluttons Bay just next to the mall. Luckily they cater to after-concert people looking for a drink, be it alcoholic (Harry's Bar) or non-alcoholic (Max Brenner's).

Esplanade has become such a big part of me that a weekend is simply not one if I didn't pay a visit to it. This is the place the locals may sometimes refer to as the big durian for its thorny outlook but like all durians, the king of fruits hides its gem underneath its thorny exterior.

basically there are a few places of performance for people at esplanade and the reason i can go to it weekly is their free performance areas. this places include an air-conditioned space inside the building itself and one more on the outside opposite Harrys' bar.

If there is an inside show, always pick the inside show because for some reason it is always better. I am not being bias to the air-conditioned place but seriously the acts inside are always better. I guess it is the type of music that I like which makes me prefer this place instead. The are regular acoustic performances or poem recitals performed here and in a hectic non-stop metropolitan singapore, this will definitely calm your nerves down. I have never regretted stopping by and chancing upon an act. weekend shows runs from 7pm to roughly 9:30pm in the indoor free hall.

The outdoor stage is slightly louder and more hip i guess. The acts includes independent local rock bands and if you happen to be lucky you will be treated to jazz bands with experienced players aged 40 years and above. the jazz band are a true testament on how the previous generation was filled with musical vibrancy that they have stuck with playing for 20-30 years, something not even our local new acts can bear a testament to.

Lastly, the biggest thing about esplanade is its allure of solitude. many nights I have come here to brainstorm, to sort my emotions or basically just to relax. The two spots I will always go to is the roof top space beside the lift landing. the 4-th storey view may not be much but the concept pops you out from the rest of the hectic environment and with that slight elevation, it gives you a sense of much needed relief. The second spot will at the railings lining the outdoor stage of esplanade. this spot gives you a great view of marina bay sands and the towering buildings of raffles place on your right. this awesome place has been places where the heart stirs, just like the waters.

When you are done with either the musical therapy or emotional relief, you can also satisfy the physical need for food with a gastronomical range of food from makansutra's gluttons bay at the edge of esplanade for local delicacy, a range of low-priced cafes like Thai Express, or cross the road to marina square and walk up the enormous staircase to have my personal favourite food at MacDonalds.
