Personally, I ain’t really a fan of museums; I find them the most boring places on earth. However, the MINT museum is one such museum that makes me think twice about brushing off the idea of visiting a museum.

It is a really tiny and quaint museum; and within vicinity of Bras Basah! In fact, I think you might just walk past it and miss it if you are not on a lookout for it. I find its interior décor quite unique, though I must say its display of toy collection is a little eccentric.

The last time I visited the museum, the toys were displayed on shelves arranged consecutively after each other; and this made them look pretty squeezed and short of space. It was not as spaced out as those you would normally see in ordinary museums.

However, I believe that will not bother you very much because I believe the uniqueness of the toys alone will be enough to distract your attention away from the cluttered arrangement.

I believe this will bring back strong feelings of nostalgia and sentimental thoughts for those born in the 1990s and before; the younger generation no longer play with toys, they play with iPads. It will probably be a more fruitful trip than those of the later generation. It is definitely worth a visit; it has wide collection of vintage toys!

An unconventional 5-storey toy museum located near Bugis, MINT is a perfect place to visit no matter who or how old you. Filled with toys from childhood, toys from movies, toys from cartoons, toys from countries all over the world...you're sure to be filled with nostalgia.

Expect a wide variety of toys - from Mickey Mouse to China figurines to Astroboy to Tintin. They can be made from tin, cloth, wood, paper, plastic, etc. but are all united in the fact that they were crafted to bring joy and fun to children.

This is a haven for collectors and is sure to evoke child-like wonderment in people. Although small, it showcases rare toys dating back decades ago. It helps one get to know about other cultures and they even sell traditional toys such as kutikuti, chapteh and tops as souvenirs!

Childhood Fantasies
Overall Experience

4.5
Ever wanted to complete collection of teddy bears, or the biggest Tintin statue your mind could dream of. This place offers a collection of your very own childhood fantasies, from immaculate collections of toy sport cars, laid out neatly in precise spacing or the entire teddy bear collection lining the walls of a staircase as you’re walking up. You are definitely bound to get caught up in the excitement that the place exudes. I have been there several times, and on one occasion I saw a couple getting their wedding pictures taken there! On another occasion there, we were celebrating a friend’s birthday and we surprised her on the staircase, where the teddy bears were. The museum itself may not be big, however despite its small size it packs a punch. I have nothing but fond memories of this place, as the emotional content and lingering sense of fun invites you to step back into a world where dreams are possible and fairies and golliwogs are real.

In a bustling city like Singapore, places like these are getting rarer by the day. This is why everyone who has even the slightest interest in vintage toys and memorabilia should pay a visit to MINT.

Let the museum take you back to the good old days when there were no iPads or PS3s; where a fulfilling childhood came in the form of an Astroboy T-shirt or a Disney figurine. If you're part of that generation, you'll find that behind each of the glass panels lies a part of that little child in you, immortalized under dazzling spotlights and will no doubt leave you with that warm, fuzzy feeling of nostalgia.

If the museum itself is not enough, what I feel really completes the experience is the establishment of Mr. Punch, a restaurant coupled with a rooftop bar. The restaurant's décor clearly corresponds with that of the museum with colourful posters and interesting paraphernalia scatter across the premises. The food is not fantastic, but the experience is unforgettable.

All in all, MINT Museum of Toys is a great getaway especially for those who grew up playing with them. It doesn't seem very crowded though, thus I am not too sure for how long more would it be around. So do support it by paying a visit!!

One of my favorite places to visit and to introduce my friends to.

It is not one of the most location-friendly museums around but trust me, the effort is worth it. The collection in the museum is simply massive and every item you set your eyes on definitely reminds you of something. Of course, being just a young adult, there are some toys and items that I have no connection with, but it's always fun to know about its existence! I do not have a particular favorite! Can everything be my favorite? The atmosphere, the variation and everything about it is worth going back for again. My attention is constantly captured. There will not be a second of boredom in this place.

I visited the museum on a weekday afternoon and it was relatively empty. It is not that well-known as compared to the other big and popular museums. It is definitely worth going back to. The toys are certain to ignite memories of the past and engulf you with a sense of nostalgia.

The toys are placed in glass cabinets which allow for clear viewing. There are some that are not in cabinets as well but I would advise you not to touch it as once broken, it cannot be restored back and since these are vintage items, it won't be available for purchase anymore.

Do drop by and take a look!

The one and only toy museum
Overall Experience

The Mint Museum of Toys actually stands for Moment of Imagination and Nostalgia with Toys. I t is known to be the first ever museum specifically built for none other than toys! The museum has an extensive collection of vintage toys, including rare and unique toys! People who visit this place have more than 50,000 pieces of toys to look out. This would certainly ensure that people can remember their childhood memories. The toys include Disneyana toys and memorabilia. There are Character toys such as Astroboy, Batman, Bonzo, Dan Dare, Popeye and many more to be discovered. But one important thing to note when photographing here is that no flash is allowed. This is to prevent the flashlight from degrading the colour of the precious toys. It is understood that more than half of the collection found in the Museum preserve national heritage. The Mr Punch Restaurant and wine bar offered me a memorable experience among the display of vintage enamel signs, bringing us back to the lovely old days. Also you must head down to the basement for a cosy and intimate ambience. People can also head to the mesmerising view of the city skyline at the rooftop wine bar. Anyone who enters this place will be mesmerised by the beautiful collection of these beautiful toys.
