I’ll be honest; the only reason I went to Madam Tussauds was because it was part of a ticket bundle ($45) which included a trip to the Trick Eye Museum. Nonetheless, I was pleasantly surprised by the myriad of celebrity wax figures and found myself thoroughly enjoying the attraction.

The attraction began with a boat ride which then took us to the hall where the wax figures were. The boat ride itself makes Madam Tussauds a must-visit as passengers will get to see a scenic recreation of Singapore’s CBD, complete with a replica of the Singapore Flyer and other landmarks.

The hall is segmented into seven areas; with each area reflecting a different aspect of popular
culture. Here, revel in the opportunity to take pictures with all your favourite celebrities. One area of note is the IIFA Awards Experience which simulates Bollywood celebrities attending the prestigious International Indian Film Academy Awards. Here, through the magic of augmented reality, attendees will get to ‘dance’ with their favourite Bollywood celebrities.

All in all, Madam Tussauds exceeds expectations by providing guests with an experience that goes beyond just taking photos with wax figures.

When some relatives visited Singapore, we brought them to the museum as it had been newly opened. Stepping into Madame Tussauds, my sister and I got scared by a life-sized Singapore Girl wax replica. NOT cool. Nonetheless, that shows just how skillful the craftsmen are.

Walking around the museum, one will be greeted by famous figures sorted out by different themes such as Sports and Music. I enjoyed how the museum allowed it to be an interactive experience by providing costumes and sculpting the figures in a way that let guests pose and take photographs. My favorite was the Muhammad Ali figure! Punch, punch, uppercut, punch!

It’s a good one-time experience, but for the price, I probably will not visit another time. For people who like to take selfies, or those who like feeling like stars for a day, Madame Tussauds is the place to be!

The most photogenic museum in this country

I had to visit Madame Tussauds for a JC school trip, and it was probably one of the most fun school trips I’ve been on since... kindergarten. Most school trips were educational a.k.a boring, so to have an outing where all we did was take photos was exhilarating.

The visit started off with a short boat ride, which made me feel like a little kid again as I stared at everything in wonder. I’d suggest going there with a group of friends - it’d probably make the trip more lively and vibrant. The best part is that the wax figures can actually be touched, which allows for poses with them to be more multidimensional and interesting. Some figures had props at the side too, which made photos even more fun.

With Madame Tussauds being largely dedicated to pop culture, this museum is the perfect place for the youth and even for children. If you’re looking for something to do on a hot or rainy day, drop by Resort World Sentosa and pay this museum a visit!
