Located at the Raffles Place entrance to Boat Quay, one of Singapore's most colourful and vibrant river front entertainment zones, The Penny Black Victorian London Pub is without doubt your quintessential Victorian Public House. And like its sister pubs in Singapore (Muddy Murphy's & Durty Nelly's) it was painstakingly designed and built in England by master craftsmen and shipped piece by piece to Singapore where it was re-assembled by the same craftsmen. The name "Penny Black" is derived from the world's first ever self-adhesive postage stamp which was printed black in colour, sold for one penny, and first issued on the 6th May 1840. Designed and built in England and shipped and installed in its entirety to its present location at 26 & 27 Boat Quay, The Penny Black pub is a highly authentic representation of a traditional Victorian London pub created as a celebration of that first postage stamp from the UK's Royal Mail.

The riverfront seating area provides the perfect setting for 'al fresco' drinks, whilst inside on the air-conditioned ground floor of the main pub building level is the wonderfully authentic Victorian London tavern has been re-created area with high tables and a long and inviting bar. The second floor upstairs 'Ssnug Barbar' atop The Penny Black provides a comfortable setting for informal business meetings, private parties / functions, air-conditioned lunches, and cocktails, and is still surrounded by the same warm London pub design ambience. Aside from local favourites Tiger, Heineken and Guinness, The Penny Black also has on tap Strongbow Cider, Old Speckled Hen, Kilkenny and Erdinger Weissbier. Food at The Penny Black is home freshly cooked daily, providing hearty meals at lunch times and extremely enticing local and western barfood in the evenings. Biggest sellers include Fish and Chips with mushy peas, Traditional Roast, and thea mouth wateriung home made Beef Burger.
