Time sure has flown by this year – it’s hard to believe we’re only two months away from the start of 2022. Singapore’s food scene has expanded just as rapidly, with a slew of new eateries entering the market.

1. JIDAI – French-influenced izakaya in Boat Quay

Featuring shelves lined with eye-catching maneki-neko – Japan’s iconic “waving” cat – figurines and neon violet lights, JIDAI is dishing out modern French-Japanese fusion grub at Boat Quay. One can expect to get a taste of unique items such as Sea Cucumber Duck Confit ($38) and Frog Leg Karaage ($28) in addition to other unconventional dishes.

2. Minion Café – South East Asia’s first Minion-themed cafe

Fans of these adorable yellow fellas from Despicable Me can now enjoy meals with them at the Minion Café in Clarke Quay. On the menu are Minion-themed items specially curated for the Singaporean palate, like the Minion Singapore Prawn Noodle ($24).

Unlike the bevvies which it was named after, Bailey and Whiskey cafe doesn’t have an age limit. Decorated in fairy lights, animal plushies and potted plants, this cosy eatery is the perfect spot for a family brunch. Not to mention, it even has a pet-friendly outdoor seating area.

With a tailor in the front and speakeasy in the back, Taylor Adam gives us some serious Kingsman secret agent HQ vibes. Keep this snazzy new location in mind the next time you plan to get some TGIF post-work drinks.

Located just a stone’s throw away from Amoy Street is North Miznon – the latest venture by Israeli MasterChef judge Eyal Shani. Although the menu changes daily, you’ll still get to taste a variety of soft pillowy breads, meats and fresh seafood seasoned to let their natural flavours shine. Perhaps adventurous foodie couples out there could give this place a visit if you’re looking for new date night spots.

Da Paolo Gastronomia Great World is the Italian restaurant chain’s biggest outlet yet. This new spot mimics a classic Italian courtyard and marketplace with its decor of tables beneath olive trees and brick pillars around. There is even a bread, wine and retail section displayed using rustic wooden shelves.

16. You Are My Sunshine – Korean brunch fare
